Similar experience here.
Owned K701. Currently like the HD650.
My dad took the K701.

I just received the Moon-Audio Blue Dragon (5 ft). It sounds great right out of the box. I'm noticing more 3D-ish soundstage and better clarity. I don't know how else to describe it. All I can say is that it is well worth the money

It can be used with 580/600/650. They all have the same connectors.

Yah, I know they have the same connectors

My question was whether they have the same sound as the hd650 equinox.

Greetings to all. I've just ordered a darkvoice figaro tube amp + senn hd650's. My source is a beresford tc7510 dac.

Will I be impressed by this combo?

I have been using the beresford headphone out with grado sr80s (now dead) and goldring dr150's. God do I love my goldrings. I think I want to be buried with them lol. Anyway, how much of a performance increase will I get with the hd650's + figaro amp? Will I think it was money well spent?

Speaking of which I have £30 left in the bank. ooops. Beans are reckoned to be very healthy though...

Is living like a monk for the next 10 days going to be worth it?

Thanks for your time and help.

Sounds a bit like my current scenario... I was going to spend £200 on a DacMagic, then changed my mind - that £200 would buy a brand new set of HD650s. Set number 3, the last two I sold, but they were used anyway - this would be a brand new set of my own.

Then I decided today to get the DacMagic after all, and I didn't have any TOSlink cables up here, so I bought some that matched the DAC...

As for 'will you notice an improvement', it depends really. The HD650 doesn't sound like a Grado. It's taken me a trailer full of headphones to finally realise that the HD650 is the sound I'm after, and driving them with tubes is the way to go.

If the HD650 sound is for you, then you'll notice no end of improvement - fingers crossed you are happy with the outcome

Hi bencrest fingers crossed here to. All of my music is laid back & relaxing. jill scott, erykha badhu etc. If the hd650's sound warm, lush and effortless then I will be extremely happy. I Dropped my order for a darkvoice figaro, and hope to have a 336i delivered.

Thanks.

eta: How does the Dacmagic sound?

Ahh, I've long awaited this day. I've modded my HD600 with HD650 drivers, upgraded with frankenstein Zu cable

Sounds fantastic, no bloated bass, no veil, no clamp!

Only problem now is I can only get more Expensive Cans to move forward.

I have to report in. HD650 are by far the best and most coherent pair of cans that I have owned. D2000 had flabby bass and strident highs + piss poor build quality, AD2000 were unpleasantly colored and had weird soundstage, K701 - sterile and had weird upper midrange. K501 has lovely mids and highs, but it lacks the bass I would like to hear in my music + HD650 has better resolution. I have no veil with my HD650 and to be honest I don't find them to be slow. Maybe it is due to my amp - I've read the Earmax thread and seems that it has very good synergy with HD650. That was one of the main reasons why I purchased the Sennheiser's . Fortunately I don't have comfort issues with my HD650, since I have relatively small noggin and the clamp doesn't get annoying.

Thought I'd ask my fellow HD650 brethren.

Amp upgrade: Graham Slee Novo or Darkvoice 336se?

I guess I could hold out and save a bit more for a Darkvoice 3322, also. If it was really worth it.

I want something with plenty of juice because I like my bass to have balls.

Anybody using any of the these combos that could offer some words of wisdom?

I LOVE my DV336se, however I have not tried a Graham Slee. I really want to try a SOLO, but as of now they are a little out of my price range.
