I sold a DV 332 because the Bijou was downright superior.

Is it possible the HD650 drivers need to break in before I get good bass impact?

The HD650s have great bass impact with the DV332 and the right source. In fact, they have great bass impact with most amps. I suspect its your source.

What source were you using?

I ordered the HD650s last night and I really need to know the answer to this question: Will the HD650s work on my Yamaha RX-V1800 receiver headphone jack without adding an external headphone amp? I need to have a definite answer, because I was getting different responses for the question that I asked in other postings.

Of course it will work and should sound very good. A dedicated headphone amp can offer more power and drive them better, increasing the sound quality.

if bass is lacking, you need an amp with more juice.

My bass is thunderous! yet tight and detailed. The more juice you have, the better the amp can control the headphone, result: better sound top to bottom.

Also, you could try some other tubes, wich might have better bass control.

Just picked mine up, I had a local store match the J&R price, so I am quite happy, didn't account for tax but what's $30 in the scheme of things. I am so excited I really wanted grados, but I just couldn't pass these babies up. I feel like these phones are a gold standard in the headfi world so I am thrilled I own em. Can't wait to hear them...

Got my HD 650s yesterday. Already love them more than my HD 580s, and they're not even broken in yet. =D

I feel bad but I canceled my order with my local retailer, it was going to take 2 weeks! So I got a pair from J&R.

wow these things squeeze the screw out of my head @_@;;;;;;;;;;

my 595s are infinitely more comfortable than these lol XD Maybe its just because the 595s are broken in. I have to replace these earpads though. omg, I wonder if i can just put the earpads from my 595s on them.

maybe they are fake how do i tell if they are fake?

and the box smells really really funny

Strange. My box doesn't smell really bad, just like new plastic.

There really is no reliable way to tell if they're fake. But I haven't heard of anyone getting fake HD650s yet. Who'd you buy them from?

As for squeeze, it's the famous Senn death-vise grip. Most people are ok with it, but if they are uncomfortable just shove a book in between the earcups and leave them overnight and they should be looser in the morning. I believe Sennheiser adjusted the grip even tighter than the HD580/600, which probably show that they felt it was too loose to begin with.
