The HD650/6XX is a headphone unto itself. Specifically pertaining to the sweetness/detail combo in one HP, it's hard to beat.
I'm using a Venture Electronics cable (1.8m, balanced) periodically found here: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/venture-electronics-headphone-cables
It looks really slick. I can't speak to its specific sonic qualities against the stock cable, as I switched them out shortly after getting my 6XX.
Yes, but only if they have the DT-100 velour pads installed..How many of you have tried the DT150? they come dangerously close to the HD 650 sonically. A perfect closed back alternative to the HD 650.
I'd say the DT-150 is the closed version of the HD650, but man are they on the ugly side of fashion as my GF notedHow many of you have tried the DT150? they come dangerously close to the HD 650 sonically. A perfect closed back alternative to the HD 650.
The DT 150 ( with DT-100 velours) has tighter, more extended and even bass than the HD 650, but the HD 650 has that last touch of perfected mids and highs texture and detail. But the DT-150 (along with DT 250) are still the best in that departement for the price I've heard, and they're not far off the HD 650 either. They sounded amazing without an amp as well to me (the DT-250 sound very slightly edgy with compressed recordings if an amp is not used, which isn't the case with the DT-150 due to less uppermid emphasis)I'd say the DT-150 is the closed version of the HD650, but man are they on the ugly side of fashion as my GF noted
Second that. They are not pleasant to look at, but I admire their sound quality and how ridiculously good they sound for their price. At some things, they best the HD 650s. They image better and have more depth to their soundstage, also, they are a bit more transparent sounding than the 650s. Whenever I am in the mood for some trance, I take them out. They have this extra energy in the treble that helps with EDM. When it comes to musicality, they are my second favorite headphones.I'd say the DT-150 is the closed version of the HD650, but man are they on the ugly side of fashion as my GF noted

I think I like them with the Bottlehead Crack a bit more but they are pretty darn good with the CTH even better than the Liquid Carbon for me.Sorry but I'm not looking at the interior of my amp when I'm listening to my music. I know that you are referring to this thread on Head-Case but I don't give a **** about what they think about Cavalli audio. At the end of the day I trust my ears and I know that this amp sounds better than pretty much all the amps that I have tried so far with the HD6XX.
The price of the DT-150 for me is more expensive than the HD6XX so its not as good a bargain for me and it still has to pass the GF test so its a no go for me. One thing I did like about the DT-150 was that its not as amp picky and sounds great with most gear while the HD6XX/650 is a little more picky with amps to me.The DT 150 ( with DT-100 velours) has tighter, more extended and even bass than the HD 650, but the HD 650 has that last touch of perfected mids and highs texture and detail. Mostly in the sound signature difference; the DT 150 (with DT-100 velours, I didn't bother with the stock pads, as they were too bass heavy) has more upfront vocals/lower mids, and a bit less uppermids and treble emphasis, coupled with perhaps a bit less details. How do they compare against the DT-250s?
I bought them for €144 euro (129 euro's for the DT-150, and 15 euro's for the DT-100 velour pads) and at that price, there's nothing more refined and natural sounding that I've tried. They best the HE-400i in natural sound. The price of the DT-150 for me is more expensive than the HD6XX so its not as good a bargain for me and it still has to pass the GF test so its a no go for me. The HD650 to me is more natural and refined than the DT-150 but I've only heard the DT-150 with stock pads (belongs to musician friend but he likes the better isolation with leather/pleather pads) so I'm sure it makes a noticeable difference in how they sound. In comparison to the HE400i the DT-150 is a bit on the slow since for EDM and other electronic tracks IMO but if I were looking for a closed back headphone they would probably be high on my list. My closed back headphones are only used for traveling so I've stayed with foldable/compact ones like V-Moda XS, Momentun on-ear, and MDR-7506.I bought them for €144 euro (129 euro's for the DT-150, and 15 euro's for the DT-100 velour pads) and at that price, there's nothing more refined and natural sounding that I've tried. I bought DT-100 purely for the ugly factor, there's no way you would mistake their sound for closed a HD650Second that. They are not pleasant to look at....
Go to Massdrop find the HD6XX and click on Request then click on Comments and read the update.Does anyone know if Massdrop will be doing another HD 6XX drop, and if so, when? Thanks.
