There is something about the s2 that I find...exceptional. There are times when I will put them away for awhile, to listen to "more expensive" headphones. And then when I come back to them I am often stunned at just how good they sound even when compared to products costing 2x-3x as much.
To me, the s2 remains very much like an improved hd650, a headphone that I have owned for 13+ years. I went through the fad of modding the 650 when that was popular. And yet, the s2 takes the sound of the 650 to a much better place that I ever got with mods.
Putting the s2 on better amps and better DACS, gives me better sound quality and more enjoyment. So I've ended up spending much more money on upstream gear than the headphone itself. And I'm okay with that. At the end of the day, it just comes down to how much enjoyment I get listening to my favorite music. The s2 takes me to a very happy place.

"I collect sound signatures"
Couldn't put it better myself. I did own the HD600 and HD6XX twice each, but got rid of both. I pulled the S2's out last week and within half an hour, it was like "Oh yeah".There is something about the s2 that I find...exceptional. It was a great week.
It is awesome having a collection where you go weeks and weeks without hearing a headphone and then when you do, it is Great! It is like getting a surprise treat every two months.

Damn, Sennheiser really leveled up with the HD 660S2. Same legendary DNA but deeper bass, better detail, and still super comfy. 300 ohms like the classics, but cleaner and faster. Might be my next upgrade fr.
Hey all
Looking for a recommendation for a USB DAC that can drive the 660S2 well,
or a desktop DAC/amp combo.

I have a very round, fat head, even relaxed headphones tend to clamp a lot..... I like clamp! In fact, I carefully / gently bend the HD600/6XX/660S2 inner metal bands, after extension, to 'refresh' the clamp!![]()

I would love that new driver tuned the same as the 650, the treble quality is exceptional I just don’t get on the with sound as a whole.
Hopeful for the future, pick a name.

FTFY....[Reg. TM; © bcowen: 2021.]I have a very round, fat head, even relaxed headphones tend to clamp a lotThat's why ZMF's steel band is heaven for me, i can bend that sucker to my head's content.

Doesn't R2R dull the high frequencies?FiiO K11 R2R. Great affordable DAC with a decent balanced headphone out. To me, this is one of the best starter pieces.
It's important to me to have sparkling treble, emotional vocals, and instruments that sound strong and present.

A match made in Heaven
unbeatable for the price in my opinion. The FiiO K7 is too "mushy" sounding with the HD660S2 so is my FiiO K9 for that matter, THX amps don't seem to have a nice synergy with this headphone to my ears.

Hi, how do these sound with FIIO M11 plus? I am thinking about buying the 660s2 for use with either my FIIO M11 plus Ess or Mac/iPhone & Dragonfly Red.
