never knew the HE-60 where a thing
it would be incredible if sennheiser could make a new more affordable HE 1 without all the goodies the HE 1 have which the mass doesn't really need

I’m on the fence. I’m looking to get something sub $1k to compliment my current staples. Intrigued by the potential of the 660s2 but I keep seeing mention made about Focal Elex and Clear MG. Are these competing in a complimentary or contrasting manner regarding sound profile?

Just got the Focal Elex and listening to them now. The 660S2 is definitely warmer and has better midbass response, at least with the stock Elex pads. The Elex are brighter, wider soundstage and I would say deeper bass. I got the Elex due to them being on sale at Headphones.com for $459 but they are a steal at that price. I'm going to get some Dekoni pads for the Elex though, to improve bass and add warmth.

Edit- On second thought, I'm just going to post the Elex on the Classifieds. Just not my cup of tea. I don't know if I want to invest in pads on something that IMO should be better than the 660S2.

Thank you for this input. I guess it'll be between the Clear and 660s2 now.

After a lot of hours of listening same songs again and again ,mostly Hans Zimmer.
I have to say vocals on HD600 are just perfection is like everything else is smoothed down and it's all about in your head vocals.
HD650 is all about warm relaxed sound and perfection on bad recordings.
HD660s compared to 600 and 650 have bigger soundstage and better imaging and separation, bass also has better texture (not more) ,vocals are back now with instruments join the mix more.
HD660S2 to me have exactly what I write about 660s but smoother on highs and more low end.
For me if I had to choose I would keep 600 for that vocal separation and 660s2 because they have everything that I love from 660s but I feel that they smooth out the treble but not in a bad way ,quality is there but in my personal taste they kept the detail in treble but making them smoother compared to 660s.
For games and only for games in my opinion 660s arethe best.

I am selling my Meze 109 Pro headphones. I may pick up the HD660S2's when I get a Fiio R9.

There is always a period of adjustment going from one headphone to another.
Cheers to a headphone collection with different sound signatures then. :beerchug:

I lived to see my beloved HD600 sounding "bad" a few days ago. Just moved on to another headphone and BAM. :sunglasses:

On a contrary experience, the HD660S was not sounding dark this week either. 🤷‍♂️

Listened to the HD660S2 Friday night and it was sounding good as usual. :smiling_imp:

This is why I fear selling headphones.

In my collection, the OG Clear's and the HD660S2's almost never sound bad. But sometimes, the other headphones are SO different, it takes time to adjust.

And why you second guess yourself constantly. Every time I am going to sell a 'phone I try to use it every possible situation and see if there is Any possible reason to keep it.

And this is why I "married" a couple of brands myself.
Sony, Shure, and LQI Cables are my big three brands. I am selling my Lotoo Paw Gold Touch. My Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7B headphones are decent too. I am giving Sennheiser a try soon.
