Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

After hearing the He-1 my appreciation for a tweaked 6 series has gone up 1000x .

I know there was some back and forth on whether a dongle was sufficient or you need the full desktop setup

But, at the end of the day, a properly tweaked and powered 6 series is just a win

The word legendary is funny when applied to this plastic headphone

But in this case... It's as advertised.

I guess you don't mean that the 660s2 is better than the he-1

i am questioning my self, is the he 1 60k good? or just fantastic? but what we all can agree on it is a piece of art

It's very good, but certainly not 60k-level, based on my sole experience at CanJam. Yes, we can get philosophical on what 60k is to different people, but let's not unless we're talking about people above the upper-middle class. There are plenty of incredibly good headphones that can be paired with incredible amps/dacs for under five figures total, so 60k is way out there.

It is a lovely thing though, and I am glad Sennheiser makes it.

what i wonder is the dac/amp only made for the He-1 or can you connect any other headphone or even speakers too it? i wish sennheiser would made a similar device without the headphones

HD660S2 is a technical improvement over the whole HD6XX range in terms of imaging, soundstage depth, dynamic range, bass and tightness of sound.Everything sounds more coherent and hi fi.It's fatal flaw is the high mids, especially male vocals are wayy too pushed back :pensive:.HD600 is king here as well as treble extension and would pick as 2nd the 660S1 for vocal.

If you listen to a lot of acoustic the S2 wouldn't be my first choice but it is the better all arounder for sure and highly enjoyable in its own right(could be endgame with SP3000 for many).

Not so much a flaw as preferences, the problem for me with the HD600 and the HD650 was always their intimacy, the slightly more at arms length with the S2 suits my preferences. Nothing wrong or right.

No it’s just for the HE-1. The base is just the Dac and pre amp the amp/energizer is inside the headphone itself.
