Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

Indeed, it's an OG pair of 600's that I know quite well as I've had them since dirt was invented haha. Right now, yes I'm using HDV 820 for DAC and amp duties (not to mention the ability to drive multiple sets of cans at once is awesome). The gain is quite predictable with a linear slope in the usable volume range, and this makes it awesome for A/B (and C haha) comparisons. I also spent a lot of time going from IE 900 to the HD 660S2, even though they are fundamentally strangers, all through HDV 820. Although my audio source changes constantly today I was streaming from the S22+ on Apple music, lossless, and some locally stored .wav and .flac from Quobuz. We will be announcing a limited HDV 820 tour shortly, as it's been harder to demo the last few years in the pandemic.
i know you can not leak infos about hd660S2 but . I have hdv820 and hd800 and hd650 too. This new Hd660S2 will bring like focal clear dynamics and subbass to the hd6xx series, also the transient response will be almost as good as hd800 ?

It has to be a big step up in sound quality from the 660s for me to pay €700.

Yep. I’ll wait on the reviews, but for now I think I will keep my 660S and wait for the price to come down.

That is a lot to ask and possibly not in the realm of physics for that driver.

That looks like the 2012 high end starter pack. Missing a Denon D5000 for closed back. I had the quite K701, HD650, HD800 all around the same time.
Sort of...but to quote myself from my review back then.
"Impressions after almost 8 months, August 24th
Well maybe it’s just me but the HD700s have proved themselves over and over again as one of the most satisfying phones I’ve owned with all types of genres.

I’ve now forfeited most of my headphone collection, Hd580/600s, Grado SR325is, AKG K701s, K501s and the 240DFs, the HD700s filling the gap. Along the way I also purchased a new pair of HD800s but after week even with all their technical superiority they failed to engage me musically so off they went back to the supplier."

I wouldn't bet.
Closer than you might think...
My mind and body are ready

Thank you very much for the personal experiences. While I have your attention - is the Bryston the amplifier of choice then & now? Cheers.

Nothing to do with the HD700.
Very opposite.
I always felt the HD700 finally broke the hd600 mould with greatly improved imaging, clarity, base impact and extension and both ends. Not to mention a fresh new design and driver placement, basically a very different phone designed from the ground up and the much needed missing link between the HDD600/650 and the HD800 IMHO.

Okay seems to be confirming my gradually forming idea of what it may sound like. The larger image size and the greater dynamics being mentioned indicates the headphone has excellent dynamic body and notably improved excursion over the original HD 660 S. Definitely getting more interested in them.

Bryston may not be the be all to end all but we go back a long way...gets the job done but have had Teac, Marantz, Creek, Meier-Audio, Shanling, a few SMSL, all solid state. : )
