I am driving my HD598 with Fiio E10.  If the source is 5.1 channels, would E10 downmix it to 2 channels or extract the L/R channels to output?

I cannot see how they wouldn't fit anyone. He must have a medically ridiculous head. That can't possibly be the reason.

From what I know, no. I believe it will play the front L/R channels. There should be software that can mix it for you though.

I should get them within the next week... I was reading this thread in the 2011 area, and some of the posters said that the 598's have cracking problems, and that sennheiser fixed it with a new material... Does that problem still exist, or did they actually fix it?

I looked it up and... Yeah. That is a pretty big head. It says that that hat size is XX-Large.

Cracking issues sorted and yes, that's one big head. I don't know where he'll find a set to fit him? Maybe 2 near field monitors and a piece of old rope?!

  I just picked up a set at Frys. They are on clearance for $149.99 new. I got an "open box" which didn't look like it was ever removed from the packaging. Since it was on clearance, the open box discount was 15%. If you have a Frys in your area and are looking for a pair of these, now is the time.

Congratulations on your purchase. Fry's has had the 598s at that price for 6 months or more. No indication that they are on clearance. They keep getting new inventory & the price stands. It is a very good buy. Hope you are enjoying them.

My hat size is 7 5/8-7/8 depending on variations and such, listening to the HD598 right now with no comfort issues.  I'm 10 ticks on headband adjustment, altho now that I'm thinking about it I might go another tick or two.  Either way, zero comfort issues.

My onboard is enough already. You won't have any problems.
 
You might be better off not even using the E6. In my opinion the E6 is terrible. But that's just me.

I agree, not much of any SQ and my wristwatch has more power.

Hmmm... good to know that i can run it un amped. But good to know that I have options and can try out. So what kind of amp should I be looking at to drive it?
