Anyone know of any good hard cases to store these bad boys in???

I've been rummaging through the net with no real leads

Can you comment on how just the e9 affects the sound of the hd 598? I've never had an amp before (besides the e7 which doesn't do much by itself). I don't have money for both, so I'm thinking of returning the e7 and getting the e9. I'd like know if it's worth it though.

I really love my HD598 when I paired them with my FiiO e7 + e9 combo

EDIT: I would recommend the combo over the e7 only. First thing, these are not portable cans so pairing them with the portable e7 would look a bit awkward. Second thing, the combo sounds a lot better IMO, since e7 is more focused on bass enhancing, which will make it a bit overwhelmed in some songs.

HD 598 is still new on the market, will take another 2-3 years at least for a new model. Now, normally the next to be replaced should be the HD 6xx series and not the HD 5xx one.

I hope they release something similar to the 598, but even technically "better" than the HD-650 and HD-600. They could clear up the sound of the 598, add a little more detail and improve the soundstage. The soundstage is already good, but isn't really comparable to the K501/K601 or maybe even the HD-600/650. I'm not talking about size though. A super huge soundstage where everything wouldn't sound so distant would be nice. The K501 seems to have gotten that right. The AD700 too was not a bad attempt. The K702 now...I won't go there..

Maybe like an HD-668

I'd buy this in a second. I want a higher end headphone that has some really engaging and forward sounding mids. I guess this isn't as common as it should be.

They did. It's called the HD800.

Yes, and it's $1000!!

Yes, but I said LIKE the HD-598. I don't think the HD-800 has the HD-598 signature with forward sounding mids does it? I mean is it's sound as engaging as that of the HD-598? I just want more Sennheiser headphones like the K501, HD-598, ATH-AD2000 etc. It'd be nice to try an HD-800.

No, it's $1500

To me all of the Sennheisers I've heard (598, 600, 650, and 800) are definitely in the same family (smooth forward midrange) The biggest differences I notice is in treble extension, the degree of midrange forwardness, the amount of bass control (punch), and the airiness.

To me, the 800 sounds kind of like a combination of the 650 down low and the 598 up high, but more refined and detailed than both. It's more complicated than that, but that's the reader's digest version of my opinion.

Of course, my memory of specific sound characteristics changes/fails on a daily basis - it's just not possible to remember auditory information for any length of time.

I can't really comment but in my purely hypothetical mind's eye, yes they will.  Expect a reveal around January at CES if not sooner.  the model designation should be larger than say HD699 but smaller than HD701.  Just a guess.

Suffice to say the notion of Senn 'veil' will soon be a thing of the past except maybe for stuff under HD500.

Nah, the Mid-fi tier goes in zeroes and fiftys.  When they get to HD750 you might want to start saving up for the biggun.  But your a Stat guy so nvm.

IMO,you should save for the e9 because these two are just meant to be together, if you understand what i mean.

It only costs around 115USD on amazon.com

Can you elaborate on what it does to the sound? I've never had an amp, nor have I had headphones that needed an amp. Is the sound difference that noticeable?

Hey guys

Have anyone of you experienced loudness imbalance between the Lt and Rt channels on your 598?

every thing was fine until  I dropped the headphones from a roughly 50cm hight

Could it be a driver's dislocation or a cables thing?
