Come on! Drums sound like crap at 128

Your little dot will be more than enough to power the 598's. The 598's are very efficient headphones and an amp isn't necessarily even required, but their sound does benefit some from amping.
Also, I found that I have a 80 kbps mp3, and yet that one come from itunes! XD Me and my before audiophile days.
I guess I should bring up another thing: I didn't like the highly praised M50s. The mids were just too recessed for my tastes, and so they sounded horrible with EDM to me. Would the 598s be better for that, or am I still going for the Q701s?
The M50 is not smooth sounding while the HD598 is the exact opposite.
Not heard the Q701, is it similar to the K701 in signature? Cause i felt the K701 is good but at the same price as a HD650..... (it is a little better than the HD598, bit if its the same price as the HD650 i would take the senns over it anyday.)
Yes, the Q701s are said to be a little warmer then the K701s, most people agree the Q701 is an improvement. It technically has the same driver. The Q701s can be bought right now (in the lime green edition) for $230, so nowhere near the 650s.
Edit: That term. Smooth. Its what makes me keep coming back to the 598s. I've always loved the idea of a headphone being "smooth." I have yet to hear anyone (at least from my horrid memory) calling the Q701s smooth...
Edit2: Of course, using the search function with Q701 and smooth pulls up a bazillion results XD
i just had a religious experience using these to listen to Radiohead's In Rainbows....WOW
