I will dont worry Lazy.... :)
This weekend i am getting them....
Only sad thing is that i wont be able to comparr both hd598 and hd600 at homr at the same time since i am giving yhe hd598 away.

I was just trying to understand how voluminous is the bass on the hd600. I noticed they were punchy but i see a lot of people bashing the subbass. I asked for a comparisob beteeen thr hd600 and hd558 bass because i remember that i liked the quantity of bass of the hd558 when compared to the hd598.....

The 6XX is the HD650. Shame it wasn't the HD600... :/

I initially thought the same thing. Then I remembered that I already have an HD 600 and therefore don't need one in dark blue as well (pretty color, though). $200 for what is essentially an HD 650 is a helluva deal, though, especially since they're usually $50-$100 more than an HD 600 and have an MSRP of $499.

I was actually vaguely tempted for about thirty seconds. Then I reminded myself that I need another open dynamic headphone from that era like I need a hole in the head. A DT880 and an HD 600 are plenty.

The one thing that bugs me about these Massdrop headphones is the naming convention they use. It's common practice on Head-Fi to put x's for digits in model numbers where a range has two numbers the same and one different to differentiate individual models. For instance, instead of writing HD 600 and HD 650 every time I want to talk about the family collectively, I often type HD 6x0. Similarly, when I talk about the 500 series collectively (all three iterations now of it), I usually type HD 5xx...

...and now you see the problem. Suppose there's a Massdrop 500 series headphone. It would be HD 5XX. Same problem with the AKG K701 variants and derivatives. I know for a fact I've typed K7xx before to encompass the K701, K702, Q701, K712 and any other variations I've missed. But there's a Massdrop K7XX now, so there's confusion. I get why they do it...it creates a common thread between all the Massdrop headphones, and by not choosing an arbitrary model number each time, it ensures that there can never be a confusing situation where the maker of the headphone goes on to later release a new model with the same number as the Massdrop one.

Haha yeah it is confusing, maybe there's a need to settle on Massdrop ver using capitalised X and small x for numbers? I don't know.

The 599's look pretty nice, thinking of picking some up soon.

When are we going to see replacement pads for these new headphones (or can they use the previous gen ones?), I constantly need new pads for my headphones, stupid heat .

Yes, you may use ear pads from previous gen models.
