based on what i've read the cx300 has more bass and less treble. other than that i have no idea how they compare. i was going to get the creatives until i ran across the cx300's for the same price(25 shipped). supposedly they pretty damn good for the price

Thanks.
Yes, I did get lucky and I'm glad I did because I almost pulled the trigger on them at $65 and at $40 shipped, that's $25 less!
Don't worry Zabuza, they may go back on sale, just be vigilant.
I saw them online at 3am and it said only 1 left in stock so I ordered as fast as I could.
Maddog, trust me I'm getting a good seal. I even used the foamies from my SuperFi.5Pro on them and the silicone tips from some Sony EX51s and they sounded pretty horrible.
The CX 300 vs. the Apple in-ears is no comparison.
Likewise, the CX 300s and the EP630 are not the same headphone either. The Senn IE4 and EP630 are the same. The IE4 is below the CX 300 in the Sennheiser IEM lineup.
I got mine yesterday, these are my first IEM headphones so I have a quick question on how these Ear-Fit rings should fit. The small is too small to get a good seal, but medium and large both fit fine. Medium I have to jam it in a little bit more, large I don't have to jam it in as far but they fall out easy. So I guess I should use medium, right?
I only tried it for about 5min last night, it does a good job noise blocking, I'm now affraid to wear these while walking around town.
Got them just now. Compered them to the Sony EX71 and Shure E2C. The CX300 sound the best! The Sony are muddy and harsh, Shure are better then Sony but they sound "flat" compered to the CX300. I must say that for a $40 (From Amazon) I got performance that is par with $150-$200 IEM's... if not better...
I watched "Walk the Line" today on my portable DVD player. (somebody at work had an Oscar screener) The music sounded so good on the CX300 I replayed some of the songs a few times.
Are there any other tips that can go on the CX300?

The price has been fluctuating as of late and I was told to look for the price to drop by other members here on Head-Fi earlier in this thread. Good Luck
I have the EX71's and I'm going to get these especially if I see them for $40. My biggest problem with the Sony's is the heavy, unnecessarily long cord...but if these also sound so much better, it's a no brainer.
I've had the cx300's running with my ipod 4G and nano for a couple of days and I'd like to share a couple of observations, if I may.
1) They sound much better than I'd expected. The Sony ex71's were so bad that I gave them away after a week. The cx300's have much better highs and lows than the Sonys. The sony bass was real crap, but the cx300's actually have decent definition. It's not great, taut bass, but enjoyable nonetheless. I put some Etymotic foam pieces on the cx 300's and they sound awfully good for a pair of sub $100 earphones.
2) The cx 300's don't really compare to my ety er4p's. they don't have that see-thru transparency of the ety's and they certainly have a muddier, less refined bass than the ER4p's. That said, with the ety foamies on them, the cx300's sound incredibly, almost unbelievably good for the price. I could definitely use these as my everyday commute 'phones, especially when used with the ety foamies since they provide much better isolation than the supplied plastic ear pieces.
Conclusion: Highly recommended! But make sure you get your hands on a pair of foam earpieces. They really raise the performance of the cx300's to a different level.
