just a quick CHECK-IN...

I'm still enjoying the Amperiors after getting them a 3-4 months ago.  Just for kicks, I've been using them plugged STRAIGHT INTO my Mac's headphone out (in otherwords WITHOUT the dragonfly dac)... and ya know what?  The music is still quite enjoyable!  Sure, it's a MUCH better sound with the dragonfly as an amp/dac, but I'm starting to think that the HEADPHONES are the most important part of the chain.  Although maybe it's just because the AMPERIORS are so SENSITIVE.... hey, I'm new here and it's fun figuring stuff out

Momentums are much more laidback in comparison. The Amperiors are aggressive and forward. Both have good separation and detail though. It's more of what you're prefer. The bass is very punchy on the Amperior and it's more sparkly up top. Mids are forward as well. The Momentum is warm, bassy and while there's sparkle up top it's very smooth and silky. Vocals are more accurate on the Momentums but electric guitar has more sizzle on the Amperior. Hope this helps.

It did help, very much.
Thank you!

Bought the Amperior in Silver, arrives Tuesday. I'm stoked.

Got them as a nice replacement for dj'ing headphones.

My Ultrasone DJ1's got blown out a second time so I'm going to retire them (had them for two years, don't even listen to my music very loudly either).

Does anyone here know if there are any differences between these two?

The Sennheiser Amperior:

The Sennheiser HD-25 Aluminum:
http://en-de.sennheiser.com/hd-25-aluminum

Other than:
- 16 Ohm(Amperior) vs. 70 Ohm(HD-25 Alu)
- Remote on the cable(Amperior) vs. Normal cable (HD-25 Alu)
- Velour pads(Amperior) vs. Leather pads (HD-25 Alu)

OR are they the same headphones with different names and features?

If anyone has heard and compared both I would like to hear of they sound different.
Thanks or your help.

They're the same headphone. The Amperior comes in Anodized Aluminum (Silver) and Anodized Blue.

I have a used pair of Amperior on the way and I am looking forward to compare them to my beloved DT-1350.

I am guessing that the Amperior are easy to drive and maybe giving them less definition but more dynamics. The 70 Ohm HD-25 Aluminum are probably great sounding headphones. I wonder if they are the same price as Amperior...

Looks like the introduction of the Momentum made the Amperior redundant... especially since it appears Sennheiser had no intentions of ending the HD-25. I'm just glad they are going with the aluminum cups for at least one edition.  Either way.  Great headphones the trio.
