I dunno if this deal is still going on, but I bought my HD650s from Amazon for $350 back in January. If such a deal could still be found, would your recommendations change at all?

I'm in the same sort of situation, I can get the HD 650 or the DT 990 each for around $300-$400. I'm in a bit of a pickle about choosing between the two, as price is not a factor anymore. To run with a desktop amp (iFI iCAN or something along those lines), which would be the better of the two?

Where did you see the HD 650 for $400?
 
I tried out the HD 650 yesterday at a music store and they sounded good.  The bass and mids were good, but the treble was somewhat lacking.  I am definitely interested in the DT990 as well, but have not heard them.  Is the treble that much brighter on the DT990?  Would I find it too much, or just right if I found the HD 650 lacking treble?

also look at the DT 880 and HD 600.
 
Since you feel that the HD 650 treble is lacking, try the HD 600, it is more neutral and a tad less bass.
 
The DT 880, is open back vs the DT 990 semi open, which means more soundstage, the treble sounds more clean and softer.

Yeah, I don't really like to lose out on bass.  I am the guy that you hear 2-3 blocks away before you even see my car.  Hehe   I am in need of a good set of headphones.  I just recently bought the Creative ZxR and I am waiting for it to arrive.  So, I will be using that to drive my headphones.  I want them to be good for gaming and a have a nice all round sound.  I love dance music (eurodance in particular) and listen to a lot of movie/game scores.  I also listen to pop and top 40 stuff.   
 
How is the bass on DT880?  Is it comparable to the HD 650?

I thought the DT 880's were the semi open cans while the 990's were open and the 770's were closed back.
The 990's are the ones with the bigger soundstage.
