Thinking about buying me the sennheiser px100's. I will be using them on a philips expanium 321 player, will they be loud enough, how about their sensitivity?

don't listen to this fool... the PX100s require a $6000000000000000 amp to sound even remotely good

They aren't as sensitive as the specs and size would let you believe. For example, the iPod has barely enough power to drive them well. They're still my favorite portable phones.

They work great with my iPod. They're designed for use with a portable. No problems at all. Teriffic bargain. No need to amp them at all.

See ya

I agree with that.

I couldn't tell any difference at all between amped and unamped. So there you go! Up is down and left is right...

These are headphones designed to be used in portable players. That means that they work fine unamped from the headphone jack. They're inexpensive. That means that it makes very little sense to spend $100 on a Cmoy to amp headphones that cost less than half that.

If you want cheap, portable headphones that sound good... these are what you're looking for.

See ya

I think that both the PortaPro and PX100 benefit from being amped. They just excel in different areas; the PortaPros have better bass and verve, while the PX-100 has more clear highs. Neigher hit the mid-highs right.

You should not have loudness issues driving the PX-100 off any portable device. My Zen Micro (not known for a particularly powerful output) can drive them to almost painful volumes.

I found the PX100 harder to drive than I had expected, even through the powerful Karma. For something advertised as a portable phone, it is actually damn hard to drive, harder than alot of full-size cans. I'm not bashing the PX100, I happen to like it very much and use it on a daily basis, it's just surprised me how relatively hard it is to drive for a portable can.

Groetjes WildBassMan, don't worry, px100 will be fine for portable or even ipod (as its intended purpose). No amp required.

Granted they're not as loud as koss (or maybe some IEM), but to me the difference are between 'deafening' and 'very deafening'.
