Seiun player, $150 player with monster spec. Too good to be true?

Crowd funders do need to get there acts together. On sites like KS AND IDGG, There should be a 2 week update min.
Ultimately it's what comes through the post, within a reasonable time they projected. Decent up dates for delays and reasons.
Patients on the backers side also.

But it seems everyone's version of reasonable varies wildly...

LH LABS seemed to disappoint on expectation but delivered eventually...
At least that's a lesser of two evils..

Is a great design better than great marketing? Only when it's in your hand working to expectation or beyond..

Ironically it's lessons learnt for everyone..

Keep smiling and hopefully not to PHA to go...

Wasn't an attack per se. You can't please all people all the time. Especially true in interwebnet land.
Disappointed is reality verse expectation. If either side isn't realistic or honest..
Most just want a reason why. I keep saying tell us everything good or bad that isn't proprietary info. When changes happen we can adjust our own expectations.. There will still be much to talk about when we get the Daps.
At the price you can't complain but people will. A small change turned into an angry mob . Then when a explanation appeared about the DAC chip was advised by the engineers at the manufacturer...
Expectation...reality..

Just electronics..
I am rarely suprised at my age but it is nice all the same...

Keep smiling though
Someone else may need that smile more than think.

Dali Lama..

Seems that CD changed the specs of the PHA again without informing the backers.

So the PHA specification got changed again?! Lucy replied to a backer yesterday that the balanced out is 2.5mm?! The Story page still shows it as 3.5mm. What’s really going on? If this is a misstatement, please correct it. If this is really a change, do notify us!

Just to make it clear the Story page still shows it as 3.5mm x 2 for balanced out!

This thread is so toxic.

Yep a lot of bad feelings in here and apprehension. I am really looking forward to my Seiun Pro X and if it's not right I don't want it rushed because a vocal minority become impatient for it. Good things are worth waiting for and it's not as if 99% of the people posting on here are without the means of playing music through their IEMs in the meantime

This isn't something to get upset about, especially since you said you already cancelled. Why come back to the thread to complain about something you are no longer invested in? Excess bile? Changing balanced out from 2 x 3.5mm to the most used portable balanced out configuration is probably really good for the company. I wouldn't go crazy on this one, as there are only a few dual 3.5mm players and the adaptors are expensive, whilst A & K have made the 2.5mm connector more prevalent among IEMs, and brought the cost of adaptors for full size cans down due to this. Personally, I would have rather had the HiFiMan 3.5mm TRRS as it is more robust than the 2.5mm and doesn't have to contain steel for rigidity.

Cyberdrive are developing a product, they don't have to produce the exact concept on the page. Go read the expectations on IndieGoGo. They have to make a good faith effort to deliver on a product, not on the original concept. To me, it appears they are doing that.

Is their communication imperfect? Yes. Does this constitute a breach of IndieGoGo terms? No. Some folks are just not meant for crowdfunding. I know people want it now and want it exactly as the concept shows, whether that concept is feasible on a product that started as a sketch during the campaign and went through several iterations while the original campaign was running or not. I know, I feel like my suggestions influenced the concept: flush volume knob, size matching Seiun Pro, case that will fit both of them--you're welcome. We have to remember that the realities of developing a product sometimes mean that you have to change it. Both changes they've made to the PHA make a lot of sense, and have probably prevented delays in release. This isn't something to get up in arms about, especially at the price that most folks paid for the PHA.

The negativity in this thread is terrible.

Guys, we all most likely have bunch of gear worth more than this laying around. I know you're all excited to get a new toy and rightly so but remember this hobby is about enjoying music.

Can anyone please share the exact specifications ? I read around here that it does balanced out, does it have 2 sabre chips and 2 opamps ? Do we know how many mw into 32ohm ?

I was thinking of joining the pre-order however i'm not sure if it's worth it considering i can get vibe X3 for about 320$, which also has a sabre chip and opa.

I thought it has a wolfsen chip?
Edit no you are right it is Sabre just checked for sound...

It would be OTG out for anything other than headphones but for $200 more you do get a phone..

Sorry don't know the final spec of the Seiun dap

Good luck regardless

So, it appears to be a good news/bad news day for the Seiun campaign today. Good news - beta testing samples are almost ready to go out. Bad news - they won't be shipped until the start of April.

@Middy - as someone with a manufacturing background, would you say that means a realistic expectation for delivery of finished article after feedback from testers and any alterations would be end of May/early June at the earliest (assuming no major tweaks required to the software or hardware)?

Taking this as a massive positive regardless, but would be interested to see what Seiun say about the fact the March shipping deadline is well and truly toasted.
