Well, reports that the Vali 3 is a "giant killer" aren't universal.

Well, the Vali3 does have the 100 volt rails of the Lyr+ now. That allows more linearity which allows less life sucking negative feedback. The Magni Unity, for $119 is a worthy experiment to find out just how close it comes to my Jotenheim 2 and Asgard 3 (I sold it). If I order it, I will report back. I'm also not so sure that Jotenheim is a "giant" to kill. It's a midrange unit. The Lyr+ I know nothing about.... but I'm not going to spend $599 to find out either.

Yeah I paid my lesson, that's why I'm cautious. I bought into the "Pietus Maximus is 80% of MJ3" and paid $625 new to find out I didn't really like it.

And recently I bought BF2/64 because "it's almost a Yggy". I need to stop buying into hype LOL.

Long story short, one person's "giant killer" is another person's "meh." That's not to say that the Vali 3 is "meh," but it might be for me and won't solve my problem. So, I'm with you.

Oh though I definitely agree that one person's gem might be another person's meh.

But your use case is a bit different. I'm thinking assuming same use case, hopefully at least the sound alone would be worthy of "giant killer".

Let's see if anyone who owns both can chime in.

I don’t know if the Vali 3 is a giant killer but I would put it in the same space as the OG Mani.
Great at what it does and you would need too spend more to better it.

Stayed up until 3.30 am this morning listening to it with a Ibasso DC03 pro as the dac.
Using a GE JAN 5670 valve.
The 03 pro can be had for £35.00 from Ali.

I’m afraid I can’t do that as I haven’t tried the stock valve.
Its still in its box.

All of can say is the GE 5670 for it’s price is a bargain.

Running the GE 5670 in as a pre amp to gets some more hours on it.
