Schiit Valhalla 3 - Impressions Thread

Thanks. It is scheduled for Monday now. Here's hoping!
They finally gave up on mine. Today's "update" says, "delivery date unknown." (sigh)
You know, I only seem to have delivery issues with Schiit. My Vali 3 last year was "lost." Schiit graciously sent me a replacement, but it still took two weeks more to get here.

I am sorry to hear this. Did the message you receive advise as to what has caused/is causing the delay? This is not a good experience tbh.

Usually it is FedEx that has all the problems. For instance, I had a case of wine that they told me would be delivered last Wednesday, then Thursday, then Friday, and now Saturday. And sometimes they will email me that it has been delivered and then deliver it the following day. Pretty unscrupulous company. This time is is USPS and I think they are just being incredibly slow.

.... scroll / read / assimilate "Schiit Vali 3: Impressions Thread". You will learn about 'knob rolling' 👍. Practice it, if you dare! 😂
I was just about to comment on this. As much as I like the looks of the Valhalla 3, every time I see a picture of it in this thread, I can't help but think "that knob looks cheap". I'm probably not going to get one, but if I did, switching out the knob would be one of the first things I did.

Just like me, the volume knob on VH3 really does look better in person than in pictures. ;)

can anyone recommend some headphones that really shine with an OTL amp like this?

I’ve got HD6xx and I hear they’re good. Wondering what else might be fun to try. Other than ZMF, which I’m not in the market for right now. Maybe some high imp Beyers? I don’t have an open/closed preference.

Possibly hd800s could be a good match. It's a combo that I'm certainly interested in hearing some impressions on. If the pairing is as good as I hope it will be, it would be quite an impressive value proposition.

Click bait!

Senns, Beyers, ZMF, and any headphone that's over say 150 ohms.

What's the budget and what music do you like?

You guys with your fancy new Valhalla 3s...I ordered early morning on release day (5-1). It shipped 5-2. Notified it was in Chicago 5-5. No notifications since. It was due here by 5-7. Now tracking says, "delivery date unknown." Well, poop. :poop:
Well, it's here. I can call off the search teams. 🤪

And I've already fitted it with a new knob. :L3000:

I’d say $500ish budget.

I really do like all kinds of music, but probably rock/guitar-based stuff the most. But also electronic stuff, jazz, jam bands, hip-hop and pop music. A lot of r&b or soul.

Currently I’ve got HD6xx, Fiio FT1 and Hifiman Ananda Stealth.

One of the higher impedance Beyers seems like a good option. Ideally something that just sounds great but in a different way than the HD6xx. I suppose I could buy a few pairs to test and return the ones I don’t like.

I’m also intrigued by one of the Audio Technica options like R70X or R70XA
