My hierarchy with Rag (1.5/2) and HFM (all of them best with PEQ (less bass and upper mids than crinicle says, and a bit of reduction where the CSD is bothersome) for all of them:

HEK SE
HEK v2
HEK Stealth
HE-6 SE
HE-6 6 screw (treble a bit angry, but bass is sublime)
Arya Stealth
HE-500

got my rag 2.. wow it's great.. no noise from my 87db speakers or hum in my auribus acoustics everest headphones... it runs so cool! barely tell it's on. audio quality great too and I'm coming from a more expensive power amp

I'm thinking about picking up a Ragnarok 2 to primarily power some Kef ls50 metas, with some headphone listening sprinkled in. Any consensus among folks who own this pairing? They seem a bit underpowered on paper, but the room isn't large. Cheers.

I have this exact combo (Bifrost 2/64 into Rag 2 into Kef). In a room that is 12ft by 14ft, I need to go to about 55% on the volume pot to get to listening level about 8ft diagonal from the speakers. I keep the speakers flush to the wall to create a bit of boom in the bass, which I didn't with a stronger amp (Hegel) in the living room. Sound quality / pairing is quite good except for bassier stuff with amp's warmth matched against the 50s neutrality. Anyway I can be helpful, let me know

Schiit is gearing up for a Brown Wednesday sale, to help clear out clearance items. I would guess that could mean an even larger price reduction for the Rag2.

Should not be under-powered whatsoever; the official Rag 2 stats are a bit underrated actually, in reality it's more like 75 w.p.c. into 8 ohms.

I'm powering a pair of RP-600M 2's in a fairly modest office (~12x12') and it is plenty loud at 50% on the dial in medium gain (I can take some dB measurements if you're curious to calibrate, since the Kef's are a bit less sensitive than the RP-600's, something like 86dB vs 94dB if I recall).

Looking for some bookshelf speaker suggestions from you all for this amp. I listen at low to moderate volumes in a medium apartment family room. I love my bass and prefer neutral and detailed sound but not sibilant as per say.

I have been pondering ELAC's Debut Reference DBR62, have good reviews but is around 86 DB sensitivity and not sure how it pans out in low to moderate volumes in my apartment scenario with this amp. I owned Wharfedale EVO 4.2, good speakers but were too laid back for my taste, Klipsch were too much for me in the past but not sure on the recent ones.

check out Revel speakers. My F35 towers pair beautifully with the Rag2 and I’ve heard great things about their bookshelf speakers.

I`ve used the Rag2 on Elac Vela BS 403 (86db/1w) in my living room. I`m not a loud listener, but there where a lot of headroom. The Rag2 pushes closer to 80w in 8ohm, so it will handle a lot of speakers with power to spare.
Yeah just to probably echo this statement, I've tried it with my Carina FS and BS speakers which are simmilar spec and have lots of headroom for my office at least. Larger living area I had to go up somewhat.

Either Rag doesn't want to drive speakers that go under 4 ohms (except in the treble). Self protection will kick on. They can drive the Maggie .7i, but not the 1.7i. In my 17' x 14' x 8.5' room they drive my BMR Philharmonics (86 db/1w/1m) in Gain 3 well in excess of what I listen at. In Gain 2 (suitable for 92+db/1w/1m type speakers) and HE-6's its not quite enough except for quiet listening.

What budget are you looking for @svmusa? The BMR's are $2k, look great, are a big big bookshelf (or 1/2 a tower on a stand). I've owned/long term borrowed a lot of speakers, and these are way up the list - just under the Verity Parsifal $25k, ML CLS IIz & Gradient subs needing two 150+ wpc amps, and Maggie 3.7i (~$8k now). But I don't have the room or budget to support speakers like that.

Nice looking too - black or white woof, and a very nice magnetic speaker grill

Yeah, you need more than a Ragnarok for Maggies. I’ve tried the Rag 1.5 and 2 with my 1.6QR and they for sure need more current.
