Schiit Mjolnir 2 Listening Impressions

I recently stacked a little amp on top of my MJ2 due to an overall lack of space and I noticed that when running all day my MJ2 was getting hot, almost too hot to touch. This led to me macgyver’ing a 140mm fan to blow into the left side of the amp. Now she runs cold, and I can barely feel any warmth, even near the tubes. Is it possible to make the MJ2 run too cool?

Great little amp ... especially for high-impedance headphones (Senn, ZMF ...)!!

In process! I will p/m when they are in. When you wear your Footscray t-shirt, you will be dressed “to the nine-pins”
One XL for me.🤪

I have the shirt, but sadly no tubes left!
I sold my MJ2 so I missed out on this thread and the shirts, fortunately they were mentioned elsewhere.🤪

Just received my mj2. Currently running it with 6n23p tubes from the 1970s. It sounds remarkable.

I'm seeking help troubleshooting some static/white noise. The noise started about a week ago, and here is what I have noticed/tried:
-Noise is equally present on all my headphones
-Noise does not change when I unplug all the inputs
-Noise is not volume level dependant
-Noise does not change when plugged into a different wall outlet
-Noise is louder on high gain
-Noise is completely gone when I swap out my LSST tubes

Are my tubes going bad? Unfortunately, I don't have any other tubes to roll in to test.

On a side note, I don't remember this amp sounding so good in solid-state mode with the LSST "tubes." :L3000:

What else is plugged in near the MJ2? Tubes can pickup on wifi signals and cellular signals really easily. I’ve found if I move my phone within a certain distance of MJ 2, then I get some interference heard through headphones.

The only thing that has changed in the last week is I got a new work laptop. Out with the old MacBook Pro, in with the new. But everything else is the same... Oh, wait, I did a Bottlehead Crack to the top shelf of my rack in the last few weeks.

Lisst "tubes" are actually mosfets in a 9 pin noval package. The mosfets could certainly be going bad. Does it sound OK with real tubes in it?
