Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

This happens to my phone, and it's generally a slow accumulation of pocket lint, dust, pollen, crap from yard work, etc. that builds up enough in the port to not allow the cable to properly seat itself.

Compressed air and one of those SIM tools usually gets it taken care of. At one point I used a blast of DeoxIT to get some gummy bits out that weren't otherwise budging. Phone is going on 5 years of daily abuse and still takes a charge :)
I use really fine tweezers to get the lint out of the connectors. It works well, and I had lots of practice picking lint out of my belly button.

PS: anyone notice that things like Beer, Wine, and proper distillates aren’t “streamed” OR “owned”? (I.e. you have to physically own them for a while, and then, you have to rent them, and then they are gone, until repeat)?
Oh, they totally are streamed. Just on the way out instead of in.

Are the heat concerns regarding equipment longevity or health/safety (eg... getting burnt)? Genuinely curious...
I think it’s ingrained in us that anything that gets that hot won’t last long. Maybe like incandescent light bulbs.

Vacuum tubes can last for thousands of hours.

No way around it. Moving is exhausting. Hope you're feeling a bit more settled Jason.

Listening to this on the Folkvangr and HD800s tonight. Sublime.

Sounds fantastic on the mini-FV (Valhalla 3) and Hifiman Arya Stealth cans. ;)

Our Pod arrives next Tuesday......

We have three days of "camping" in the empty house before that!
We are going with movers. When you have a problem and have time, you spend time, when you have no time, you spend money

So, do we leave them on or power cycle them? If I'm going to listen three days in a row, do I just leave them on? Or do I shut them off each night?

I think any serious tuber will tell you to power the amp and tubes down when your done listening. My general rule (and Jason stated it as well) is to power off if you're not going to listen for more than an hour. If I just need to step away from listening for less than an hour, for say lunch, an errand, or a short nap, I leave the amp and tubes on. Any longer, I turn it off.

BTW -- a typical new measuring tube should last approx. 5000 hours (or approx. 200 days), but they do perform less optimally with time. They don't just go 5000 hours and then stop. They gradually degrade with hours used.

@sixergixer That's an excellent album. Cool that ECM has reissued it. Too many bills to pay after our vacation otherwise I'd snatch a copy myself. Enjoy!
I wouldn't wait too long on The Jewel In The Lotus, it's already sold out through Turntable Lab, though Amazon and ECM themselves still currently have it. Being a Luminessence release, I'm not sure if those are any more limited or not.

Cheers to the happy family! Gorgeous photo. :beerchug:

FWIW, when I got rid of my LPs and the furniture needed to hold them, I was quite amazed at how much larger my house suddenly became..

+1

I enjoy vinyl, CDs, ripped CDs and streaming from Qobuz.

All four have their pros and cons.
I got rid of all my vinyl and then I ripped all the CDs and put them in storage. So much less clutter.

I have liked the horizon series. I retubed my Cronus Magnum with all Horizon tubes. Used EL34 for the power tubes (instead of kt88) because I like the EL34 tubes. They sound great.
I'm partial to Ray's select 6SN7's. I've sampled 2 examples in my Lyr 3. I have 4 matched units on the way for my new Freya+ F.

I've read reports they're produced by Psvane.
