I use really fine tweezers to get the lint out of the connectors. It works well, and I had lots of practice picking lint out of my belly button. This happens to my phone, and it's generally a slow accumulation of pocket lint, dust, pollen, crap from yard work, etc. that builds up enough in the port to not allow the cable to properly seat itself.
Compressed air and one of those SIM tools usually gets it taken care of. At one point I used a blast of DeoxIT to get some gummy bits out that weren't otherwise budging. Phone is going on 5 years of daily abuse and still takes a charge![]()
