@Godaisan I always clean them before playing. It's part of the ritual, I guess. Don't know if it's really necessary.

Quick question for the vinyl folks here. Do you clean your brand new unopened records before playing them or do you just play them straight out of the wrapper?
Yep. I figure pressing plants are by no means like clean rooms!

I received my new Modius E and Midgard ~last week for my little system. Nice combination. Then I ordered a Vidar 2F and Saga 2 for my little system. I see where this is going. Let me recover from this purchase and I will make a Mimir addition. So much for a not so little system. It will be fun to experiment. I tend to side on less is more. The EQ features don't really excite me, but I will experiment. Not so sure I will want EQ on my main stack with the Gungnir 2. Maybe just a taste.

We, as a company, really enjoy the fact that we're in a position to provide flavors. If people's tastes are different—and they most assuredly are—why would we possibly want to offer just one thing for everybody?

Just don't turn into Baskin-Robbins. People like me have problems with Van-Choc-Straw.

Wow, I just realized that yesterday was the 20th anniversary of my having joined Head-Fi! 😳
Welcome to the 20+ club, fellow old fart. :)

2. It seems that one is only getting FB on Yggy’s going forward, if one goes the Byggy route for Yggy, because adding a singular board to my Yggy won’t do it. Not sure if the current Yggy+ chassis ($450?) ads FB, but reading between all the lines I don’t think so…?
I'm pretty sure the answer is no. You can see the Forkbeard module slot on the new digital board.

Given the above, my “options” vacillate:
1. Get Mimir now and see how I like the PEQ, etc and just how “negative” it might be on Sonic’s versus Yggy to better inform me/my tastes (Incrementlal cost $350/shipping), and/or
2. Sell Yggy A1/OG now, and use the funds to just jump to Gugnir (incremental cost around $700 after selling Yggy), or
3. Do nothing and wait til August, perhaps selling some other hobby gear to build the funds to go the Byggy route when able (incremental cost of $2Kish depending on how long the price points hold since my Yggy isn’t eligible for the pre-order queue, etc. as purchased used.

Currently leaning towards just getting a Mimir so I can begin the “tasting”… it’s also the lowest cost of entry… always a feature.
I really like the Gungnir 2 with Multiform in my main system. Unfortunately I never heard any Yggy version or any of the other Multibit DACs.

Prior to the update info release I was considering to go with a Byggy for my main system and move G2 to my desktop system. But that would be a considerable bigger invest than just getting something like a forkbearded Bifrost or so.

A second Gungnir 2 could be an option, too. Maybe with a future Singular flavor.

I think I'll wait for moment.

I do the full cleaning first so (hopefully) I never have to clean them again.
I clean them right out of the jacket but I generally wait to give them a deep cleaning with my ultrasonic cleaner. Considering the setup time I like to wait till I have a dozen records or so.

Heavy rains here so Finnegan and I are listening to vinyl as I finish up some woodworking. My Stjarna with Telefunkens is certainly a remarkable addition. I did make another olivewood headshell after I gave my last one to Ripper.

Anyone had a chance yet to race Mimir against Yggy A1/A2?
If you want to have something new and exciting to play with the Mimir gives you a lot of that for a bargain price. Also that way you can post your impressions against Yggy...

Yep. Jason already mentioned a Multibit thing for next year that will … uhm … make a lot of people scratch their heads in utter disbelief, let's put it that way.

No reason why both shouldn't be able to coexist in our lineup.

Remember:
We, as a company, really enjoy the fact that we're in a position to provide flavors. If people's tastes are different—and they most assuredly are—why would we possibly want to offer just one thing for everybody?
Sweet does this mean the existing Yggy will stay in the line up?
