Parboil them for 2 minutes, then plunge in ice water… then mine go into a glass dish so soak up a bunch of quality olive oil, crushed garlic and black pepper… let em sit for 30 minutes or so… then grill to perfection. Do NOT over boil them and you MUST plunge in ice water, or they’ll lose the bite/snap you want and turn to that evil mush known as steamed asparagus.

Edit: 2nd @bagwell359 … drizzle with a top quality italian balsamic… quick final grind of pepper…mmmmmmm
All this aspergillus cooking is getting so complicated... I just steam them for 90 seconds without anything... Same for broccoli

asparagus - damn spell check

The other night I tossed some in a little olive oil and salt and put them in the air fryer for 10 minutes. Yum.

Just got back from a 4 mile brisk walk. Feels good to get the blood pumping and clear one's head. My retirement mantra...

1. I will exercise more. (16oz regressive curls does not count as exercise.)
2. Watch what I eat and cut down on empty calories. (Margarita exemption is in place, however.)
3. Listen to more tunes and in a more intent fashion. (More equal split of time between speakers and headphones).
4. Quit sweating the little stuff. (It'll all get sorted out in due time.)
5. Spend quality time with those that matter to me. (IRL and OL)

Not everything. And not necessarily in the correct order.

@Ripper2860 Brilliant list, but I see you've forgotten an important one. 6. Declutter by sending your extra tubes to @DACattack.

Don't forget:

6. Learn all the nuances involved in quality naps.
7. Motivate the wife (daily if needed) to continue working.

Is there any reason I shouldn’t stack a tube headphone amp on a Mimir? I currently use a Valhalla 2 and a Modi MB2, but am considering upgrading to a Valhalla 3 or a Lyr+. I’m running a pair of Senn HD650. Thoughts?

Wife had me add a #6

6. Do something around the house on occasion. There's plenty that needs to be done. (Not sure I agree with that but as they say: Happy wife - Happy life.)

Extra tubes? E X T R A? Stop it, please!
You're slaying me! 😂

"On occasion" translates to once a month or less. When I first was laid off, I found that wives do not comprehend the male capability to literally do nothing. That is a totally incomprehensible skill that females cannot abide. 🤪 :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

@Ripper2860 Well, allow me to rephrase. Underutilized, perhaps?

@Verde And Black The day's chores are done, the lawn freshly mowed, and now, may I present the inaugural Verde and Black cocktail.

1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
1 oz St. Germain
2 oz Plantation 20th Anniversary Barbados XO rum

Delicious. A perfect early summer drink (I can actually say that with a straight face today since it is 77° F outside here in lovely Minnesota as I type this). If I decide to have another, I'll switch to the Bumbu XO rum, which is also an excellent, but less expensive rum. Have to save the Plantation for proper special occasions like this one.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday. Going to explore the 16 Horsepower catalog now at @Ableza's suggestion, as I sip this delightful cocktail.

Cheers!

Recommend some taller feet or spacers on the tube HP amp, maybe 3/4” 20mm or so for cooler running.

VH3 vs VH2: biggest thing is the impedance multiplier to drive low-z planars (e.g. DCA Aeon, Ether) or low-efficiency (e.g. Tungsten) which need a lot more current than hi-z & hi-efficiency dynamics (e.g. hd650)

If seeking a voicing / tonal change, consider tube rolling or trying Mimir with existing Valhalla 2 & HD650 first

Definitely will work on naps. I'll reach out for information and guidance as needed.

As for motivating the wife to continue working - the monthly apt rent for our youngest girl should be sufficient motivation. At least for another year. 😒

** I'll tell her daily how lucky she is to be working and how miserable it is to be retired and struggle to fill 8 hours a day every day. I mean there's only so much 'I dream of Genie' one can watch. 😏
