Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Followup: "things to do" embedded in an update:

1. The Big Crazy Thing should be shown at Dallas CanJam, unless something really weird happens. Shooting for availability shortly thereafter.
2. In fact, we specifically got a room at CanJam to show Wotan, Gungnir 2, the Big Crazy Thing (and some other stuff), in addition to our table.
3. The Big Crazy Thing has a name, but it won't be announced until we're there at CanJam.

(If The Big Crazy Thing doesn't make it to CanJam, I'll just have a bunch of bourbon in the room. It'll probably still be one of the most popular rooms in the show.)

We're also scheduling new products for production and developing new things. So, right now, "things to do," include:

1. Graphics for the show.
2. Planning for the show--explanations, presentations, etc.
3. Advertising for the Big Crazy Thing.
4. Additional testing, etc to ensure the Big Crazy thing is perfect.
5. Scheduling new stuff, including Valhalla 3 and Stjarna.
6. Scheduling other new stuff you don't know about, which includes still finalizing metal drawings and doing BOMs.
7. Assembly, testing, and tweaking of stuff for 2025.
8. Planning for end of year craziness (things always ramp up at the end of the year.
9. Documentation, including chapters, product descriptions, manuals, etc for all the new products.
10. Helping out as we finish up the move-related logistics stuff.

Plus all the other stuff of making tile, reviewing the new house as it's built, dealing with various business craziness, financial planning with Tyler and the accountants, evaluating new Schiitr options, etc.

So yeah, apologies if I go straight to the "nuke the site from orbit" option when people can't behave around each other.
Sounds like you're crazy busy. Well, as they say in my industry, "that's why you make the big bucks." Or whatever size your bucks are. :dt880smile:

I thought "string theory" was more of a physicist's perverted idea of what Mathematics is?
I have most of a Bachelors in Applied Mathematics/Comp Sci edition
You can learn most of string theory from Big Bang Theory

The ban was used.

I threaten because I don't have time to manage this. If you misbehave too much, either:

1. I missed it for too long and Head-Fi closed it for cleanup.
2. I turned it off so I can have time to do product development, marketing, content creation, management...you know, the stuff I need to do.
I agree.

Jason’s tolerance is commendable.

He is certainly more tolerant than me!

I love this forum but have zero tolerance of anyone imposing their politics on me, even over a beer in the pub.
On this forum, such disrespectful and inane b******s deserves a permanent ban.

Hi Jason, what is the difference in USB latency between Gunnr's implementation with custom firmware and your own Unison proprietary USB? Would they be the same? Any testing between the two? Curious how the numbers pan out. Also would your true multibit products cause higher latency than the delta sigma offerings?

EDIT: Asking this purely for latency and regardless of sound quality. Frankly I'd think the burrito filter on the multibit stuff would provide exceptional imaging for positional cues and the like for gaming.

Italian version of the water buffalo, different mixture in the milk so the mozzarella is not the same as from a Holstein or Guernsey and tastes different.

and the butterfat content is about 50% higher than cow's milk, IIRC.

While I am quite happy with how you moderate this forum/thread I am very disappointed that you have to devote your valuable time to do so.

Thanks, @Jason Stoddard - for giving us a place to comisserate and for making the gear that bring us much joy. Thank you.
YES!

sorry about the all caps.

Instead, we are warned that the thread will be closed, punishing us all.
Because it's easier to close the thread than to chase after trolls, and those who feed them. Jason has a business to run, not a kindergarten.

A basic Mac mini.

(I'm not joking. A most basic Mac mini is by far the best streamer in terms of bang for the buck. Pi-based streamers are fine, but not everybody wants the tinkering that comes with that. If you look for a set and forget solution, you can't beat a Mac mini with whatever player or library management software you prefer. Personally, I use Roon, but other solutions are available.)
^^^ Refurbished 8GB M1s are going for < $400.
