That GE font style dates back to the wartime years, but I'm not sure how long they continued to use it afterwards. GE bought KenRad in 1945, so it's pretty likely that tube was made by KenRad.Finnegan likes a Brimar.
Then there is a grey glass GE possibly made by Ken Rad, it sounds too good to be GE, crazy gain on this one. Next up is a Tung Sol black glass VT-231 round plate.
Wait....you said it sounds good? Definitely made by Kenrad then.

Do I ask you or Ripper, I'm not sure, but wasn't Ken Rad the partner of Barbie Rad?That GE font style dates back to the wartime years, but I'm not sure how long they continued to use it afterwards. GE bought KenRad in 1945, so it's pretty likely that tube was made by KenRad.

The only 6SN7 that i have is a real WW2 timeframe.
I had 15 of these and other types, but sold them all several years ago.
Funny I had a hard time selling them!!
Wish now I had not sold them....ooof!

Just like the wartime German and Russian tubes some of those were the best of the best. I have a decent collection still. The only 6SN7 that i have is a real WW2 timeframe.

Hmmm, they would need to be really long, slow cooked to be edible though....Highly, highly recommend this. Pinnacle of hole in the wall Central NC bbq. Also hands down best hush puppies you will ever eat..
Apologies to @bcowen ... cardboard would be way better than this.

I've been a fan of Klaus Doldinger's Passport since I was a teen in the 70's. While Klaus has had an excellent solo career since the 60's playing saxophone, it's his time with Passport that holds a place in my heart and my Jazz rotation.
Tonight's Jazz recommendation...
** Check-out Passport's 1977 release of 'Atarxia' for something more on the jazz-funk/fusion side. A bit ahead of their time.

Thanks for this information. I have never thought of the ROI associated with home roasting. Roasted bean prices are rising significantly, while counterintuitively, the weight of a bag goes down. A bag used to be a true pound of 16oz, now a bag is 12oz.You should upgrade to home roasting… you’ll never go back, and, by my calculations, (16oz per day consumption rate), I had a just over two year ROI versus buying already roasted. Also, I can get my roast exactly as I like it.
I use the Genecafe’ roaster, and typically get my green beans from SweetMarias (California company)

Tonight's non-Jazz recommendation. ![Wink  ](https://cdn.head-fi.org/e/people/wink.svg)
This is Shoes' inaugural album. Recorded on a 4-track reel-to-reel in a living room and intended to be demo tracks, it was picked up and released as-is rendering a catchy, unpolished, visceral garage-band experience. I love this album as it just 4 guys doing what they love with what they have and sounding great while doing it in an unpretentious way. It's just a FUN listen!

To me, one of the greatest advantages of home roasting is controlling the degree of roast. As I'm not a fan of "Charbucks," I prefer a lighter roast. Freshly degassed beans, roasted to a proper level of "doneness" and run through a decent burr grinder is one of life's pleasures. Thanks for this information. I use a popcorn popper that has been...ahem, modified...to work as a coffee bean air roaster. Works well. ymmv.

. maybe bcowen's problem with GE tubes is they don't sound good with Marilyn Manson?Currently running all vintage GE valves in the Wurly 1100.
I listened to vintage RCA's and new tubes, Chinese and Russian, but the GE's rocked the best.
