Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

This is the first day in weeks where I have not used power tools and new vinyl arrived so I had to stop and listen. My wife did not follow why I did not leave the record playing while I came upstairs to beat her at Scrabble. For all she knows I may have a record changer downstairs. 😁
I have some vinyl that you might want. PM me.

Were you running exclusive mode on the Tidal PC app? If Qobuz is better than that, I'm impressed and need to re-evaluate.
FWIW, on my equipment, and to my old ears, Qobuz audio quality is at least a smidge better than Tidal's. But probably close enough that whichever UX you prefer is going to be a very important factor.

Someone should do what another manufacturer did with their DACs. People were waxing lyrical about how nothing sounds as good as a classic Marantz multi-bit, so he bought one and measured it, and reverse-engineered the digital filter as well. He now offers it as a filter option on his own models, so you can have the classic sound without having to hunt for a Project D-1 or whatever. And you get high-res and whatever else. Wouldn't be so hard to do with tubes to measure the harmonics.

Bob Carver did that with one of his power amps. I think @Paladin79 owns one - a solid state accommodation to his tube preference.

Both cats wake up and glare at it whenever Bifrost clicks. Poor disturbed kitties.

And yes, I am ignoring Jot2 to listen to Valhalla. Rolled the tubes and am deep in tube bliss. :)
Run them through the scanner that is back there. A CAT SCAN LOL. I'll show myself out.

... Both were noticeably better than the pot in Vali. ...
So, we need Schiit to make a Vali 3 Uber with a TOTL pot? A mere quadrupling of the price, maybe.

P.S. And for @OldRoadToad a set of jacks to drive VU meters off ...

..... The RedBook CD's design was limited by the technology of the day, ...
I would have liked it to have a sample rate of 50-80Khz. That 20Khz The 44.1KHz sample rate with its 20KHz output strikes me as too close to the human hearing limit for my engineer's mind to be 100% happy with it.
Cymbals, e.g., would be able to take advantage of the extra hertz-age, even if only our dogs can hear it.

My mathematical brain says 50Khz/20bits would have been fantastic. I'm annoyed at the wastefulness of 96Khz/24b. I could have had another 5 songs on there!

Alternatively, have a word at the beginning of the CD to say what the sample rate and sample size are on the recording. Now that would have been perfect sound forever.

Mmmmm.... Blood sausage. A Scottish staple, but really acquired taste.
.
You haven't lived until you're awaken by your relatives making blood sausage (morcilla) on the back porch, outside your bedroom window, starting from a live animal.

I vote for a Vali of The Toad® ™ with TwiinTube®™ Power & VisionVu Meters®™. Nope. Not ever gonna happen. His vision of the company is rightly his and Mike's alone but that does not mean I am not right in wanting what I want. :beerchug:
