My better half got to go to Dublin for spring break for some reason...

Now I find there's an Irish Whiskey (whisky?) museum there...

The Writer's Tears is a wonderful whiskey. Probably my favorite Irish dram.

Eitr was Gen 5. Input is Gen 5 USB, output is coax S/PDIF. It was basically sold as a way to add "USB, Solved: Gen 5 Technology" to any S/PDIF coax-compatible DAC. The Unison input vs Eitr coax input to my Gumby A2 is not a very noticeable difference to my ear. It beats the pants off a Fulla DAC, and is UAC1 compatible, unlike Unison.
speaking of Gumby- is the serial number B if it's the A2?

That's the consensus I believe, not "A" basically. I won't make any promises about the accuracy of that. I know mine is A2 due to the timing of my upgrade from delta-sigma to multibit. It was reserialized at that point to "B".

Aw- im not opposed to an A1 or A2 but would like to avoid the C series as it was missing some parts. But I do like to understand release types if theres an indicator like serial number.

Would be cool to see a Eitr 2 with Unison.
It would. But, I doubt Eitr sold very well. Prior to that time (2017ish) there were many Schiit DACs sold that didn't have USB input at all, so Eitr made more sense in the product lineup than it does today.

I wasn't aware of that. My delta-sigma Gungnir was a "C" and was upgraded to Gen5, multibit A2, and then Unison.

Hmm. im trying to remember what it was. i wanna say the vxco or whatever thats called. I think it was only the last few runs and i doubt you are missing anything since you were upgrading .

I dont think all the gumby C series were missing parts. I believe my gumby is a C series and is unison. and it has both clocks in it. One of the gumby clocks was removed due to part availability about 4-5 months after I bought my gumby.

Was Gen 5 USB a UAC1 card?

Was the original modi Multibit UAC1?

Yeah that sounds right- just at the very end of the cycle. Sorry guys if I caused any anxiety with that comment lol.

Yes, and yes. MMB1 was Gen 2.

EDIT: I'm not 100% sure on MMB1's USB generation, but it is UAC1 compatible.
