Oh, man, sad news. Roger Waters' album Radio KAOS had cameos by a bunch of those jocks. I think that was the last Waters disc I actually enjoyed, rather than endured out of a sense of duty.Jim Ladd just passed recently. R.I.P. KLOS, KMET, KUSC, were some great stations back in the day.

Three years ago .... Mocha is listening (playing) in caelum pro canibus ....
My go-to listening test is jazz double bass well played and recorded. While waiting for hardware upgrades for some of my Linn gear, I got to compare two different high-end speaker systems on the latest Vijay Iyer Trio's album. Linda May Han Oh, one of the very best bassists working now provided the test. Even a supposedly very good system can make double bass sound blobby and disjointed, while a truly superior handling of bass keeps the higher and very low frequencies together, think of a wave crest (higher frequencies) on sync with the body of the wave (lower frequencies).
Nothing like planar speakers for time alignment.

There is also placing the listening seat between a pair of Vandersteen 2CE Signature III loudspeakers - facing one another !!Nothing like planar speakers for time alignment.

Any German restaurant that offers gulasch suppe is okay by me! In all my German travels, I never remember a choice between mild or spicy bratwurst ...
The interesting part, to me as a non-connoisseur of German cuisine, was the few minutes conversation my spouse and the proprietor had about "grilled or boiled?"

Actually this seems about right after I did a quick search online (I thought you were joking, but since that was spot on I assume you already knew). Found these two pages with info:Bling? Gold plated badges, special wire, caps. The usual bragging rights. A 6k product all of a sudden becomes 10k - and pricier must be better [irony].
- PDF Flyer on shopify.com
- Audio Excellence blog with a link to their pricing page
Looks like a ~60-70% premium for the gold badge, better caps, coils, wiring, connections, and inputs. Not for me.

Yes, I have a few of the Cohen albums. But I try to gravitate toward the younger generations in jazz, besides Linda May Han Oh: Patricia Brennan (vibes), Joel Ross (vibes), Immanuel Wilkins (sax), Obed Calvaire (drums), Fergus McCreadie (piano), Mareike Wiening (drums), Miho Hazama (composer/big band conductor), Mary Halvorson (guitar), Ambrose Akinmusire (trumpet), David Virelles (piano), Adam O'Farrill (trumpet), James Brandon Lewis (sax), ...Thanks for the idea ... hadn't heard of her before now. You might check out the bass playing of Avishai Cohen ...

Do we think the gadget is a 2024 product, or pushed back into 2025 or beyond?

Much as I enjoyed FM radio during the hay days of the 70s and 80s, I have no idea why anyone would own a tuner now days. They just sound like ass. You can get the same station/music streamed that doesn't sound like ass. Nostalgia and all is great, until you have to listen to it.
And I think we need more cat here too. Here is mine when he was a little killer. Now he is a much bigger killer.

Of course there are. Remember the DCM Time Windows. They were wonderfully time aligned dynamic speakers.... there are other ways, which I'm listening to right now -- for a price ...
