Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

@Jason Stoddard posted elsewhere that Yggy MIB will be out this Wednesday. The day I should receive OG. Let's hope I made the right decision.

It's like a marriage. Be loyal. Don't cheat.

If your Yggy OG (2023) is the only Yggy you ever listen to, it will always be the best damn yggy you ever heard.

You're welcome.

Yes the Yggy+ OG is very good. :) Still warming up, and waiting for balanced interconnects.

I listened to the LIM at the Schiitr and liked it. The OG is new to me and plays through much more capable speakers in a much larger room. So not apples to apples.

The Yggy tier is the best family of DACs I have heard. My hat is off to Mr. Moffat and his team.

Try using the lowest gain possible.
That sounds like good advice @adias, based on my limited understanding!

With both Mani 2 and Skoll, the THD and SNR figures deteriorate rapidly as gain is increased.

As Jason has already pointed out, Skoll does not measure as well as Mani 2, so those numbers are not a good predictor of sound quality.

However, phonostages are dealing with tiny, delicate signals, especially with Low Output MC carts.
It is therefore a challenge to design low noise, low distortion and high SNR amplifiers which also sound good when running at 60 or 70dB gain.

Maybe Jason has cracked it

It's very useful to know the back roads into Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, especially in October. The main parkways are always jammed.
Thanks for visiting, @Ripper2860 ... hope you didn't mind the 9.75% sales tax too much.
Yep. Everything is jammed up due to sightseers of the fall change of colors in the Great Smokies, as well as the stores dressing up for the holidays. I'm sure the new Bucee's at I40 and 62 doesn't help. My knowing all the roads out doesn't always help relieve the crush. The whole corridor keeps growing by leaps every year. Wished I bought a few rentals several years ago. Could have retired earlier. All that said, it's always fun to go over and spend a day or 2 every year just knocking around. I especially enjoy the moonshine tasting and eating at Paula Deen's.

Has anyone who had Folkvangr repairs noticed a smell of burning plastic prior to it failing? I just started noticing this on mine even though it seems to be operating properly otherwise.

Which was the one that took little memory cards?
41 and 41CV and probably others. My 41CV has memory cards and math packs.
The 48GX. I still have a couple of chemistry cards and a surveying card. Obviously not getting a lot of use these days.
Given the words "little memory cards" my thoughts go to the 65, the first programmable handheld - and its successor the 67 - that used magnetic paper cards. Like tape but only a few cm of it. Cool! Maybe a bit fiddly? https://www.hpmuseum.org/hp65.htm

After those came the 41 series and then the 48sx and 48gx with plastic modules containing ROM, RAM or even extended I/O. And on the modern end of the scale the 50g (and 49g+) have a full size SD card slot.

All this calculator talk has brought forward fond memories of my first... :smirk:
