Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Testing my "Dark Vidars" this evening. From 14 feet, Ragnarok balanced pre-outs to Vidars then to Magnepan .7s, SPL of 80.7 db average, 88 db peak with the Ragnarok volume control set to 12 o'clock.

My typical listening level is low 70s at a distance of about 6 feet.

Not terribly scientific, but the Vidars seem to have plenty of juice for my Maggies.

Time to round out the evening with Crosby, Stills, and Nash as a tribute to David Crosby.
I remember my first Byrds album that was a present in 65. I've always loved CSNY as a group and solo. I finally got to go to a CSNY concert in 1974 at Mile High stadium in Denver.

I can recall buying the first CS&N album about the same time I bought Green River by Creedence. I already owned early Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and Hollies albums.🤪

Tonight for me at least it is just about the music, talk of audio gear can wait.

I'll have to correct that old post I made saying Vidar wasn't one's typical amp and didn't suffer the "bridging penalty." I had thought it was Continuity...

Apologies to all I misinformed. Out to the woodshed I take myself...

Upon my viewing of the photo of the typical RCA employee both of my watches stopped.

ORT
Aaand we're back to watches.

I liked that triangular one but better half said it was unreadable.

Preferred music genres are wide ranging from modern Jazz artists and Jazz singers like Melody Gardot... to
contemporary like Fiona Apple to... hard thumping rock like Alice in Chains to... Van Halen. My music choice is mood driven.

Right now it's modern Jazz. As I write this, I'm listening to March for Mingus by Melody Gardot (live).
Max volume setting on the Marantz is 94.
I maybe get up to 60-70...75.
Personally I would go Vidar for that music mix

Can you explain "bridging penalty?"
Also, I seem to recall reading on this forum that running a Vidar in mono isn't exactly "bridged."
Just curious, thanks in advance.

If it's made like your audio gear, I would buy a Schiit toaster in a second.

Has been done before by audio companies :)
I have a Kenwood toaster, it's running for years already and I use it everyday!
My parents in law had the same, it died because getting in with knives every now and then is not advisable :)

Question for Freya S or Freya + owners:

Looking at the LEDs to the left of the volume control, the left one lits when mute is engaged. The middle one lits when x1 gain buffer stage is on. Does that middle LED also lit up when the x4 gain stage is on? Along with the right LED?
Late reply. The behaviour is described on the Controls page of the Freya S manual:

‘4X Gain LED
This is also on (with the 1X gain LED) when using the Nexus stage in high (4X) gain…’

The Freya+ manual does not include similar wording about both being on - this is not surprising since the middle LED is for the solid-state buffer and the right LED is for the tube gain stage.

Regards, Nigel

Are there any possibilities of something like a unison eitr or similar USB decrapifyer for those of us with older schiit we may not want to let go of like an og Modi multibit?
I think that Jason Stoddard has stated that they discontinued Eitr because sales were poor and therefore they were not planning to produce a similar Unison product. I believe the statement was either in one of his Schiit videos or another YouTube interview, rather than a post on Head-Fi.
