Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I have a proper anti-static station and setup.

Now as far as Aragon, that is Indy Audio Labs, I have done work with the owner. 😁😁

I still use an Aragon 2004 MK II amp. Sounds great as is. But, I am planning a recap, which looks to be fairly simple...!

Seriously when I order parts for one, ordering for two is fairly easy. This could be a good winter time project and being a Gemini it is not unusual for me to do things in twos.
Wow! That is something to think about!

I know that the SHA-1 & SHA-Gold's boards are similar, but I don't think that they're identical.

That is like stopping and asking directions when you are driving lol. Seriously though I do tend to skim the manuals then go back to find specific info later on.
I've been trying to read the Incubus manual for over a year now, but the words still escape me. All of them. 🤣 🤣

Here's a shot I took in 2020 of the Melos (now Tom's) after I found the box in the closet since 2004. Curiously, I think the box said SHA-1 but the back plate had SHA-3 on it, if I remember correctly.

I would make him some except I have far too much audio gear in my shop to be creating saw dust or paper dust. I want to say he already owns this type of lifter. :beerchug:
I've got some of those in a box somewhere. I heard a difference in a previous setup (below) with a carpet-on-concrete floor, but on my current suspended hardwood floor...nada. I even tried to, like really hard. But as ridicule requires some offsetting reward and none was to be had here, I stashed them. 🤣

five nines (post 99,999)

(revised)
Melos SHA-1 gold version looks to add balanced pre outs (true-balanced or fake-balanced???), more inputs, Pho-tentiometer LDR volume control, psu upgrades per some posts c.2000.

Original SHA-1 might be less difficult to work on. perhaps add headers to transformer connections, etc... to facilitate PCB removal / future servicing.

With these preamps being decades old and mfr out-of-business c.2000, are changes to individual units' actual factory improvements or non-factory mods performed by prior owners?

Over-sizing caps sometimes leads to psu start-up or sequencing issues = turn-on or shutdown transients / thumps.

How do those speaker cable risers compare to the cardboard ones? :joy_cat:
