I was thinking, “That’s a lot quicker than I thought”. My opinion is the FV will sell out after the reviews roll in (assuming they are positive). The number of people willing to risk almost $2k on a tube amp unheard and un-reviewed is pretty small.

Yea, well, $2K is cheap in comparison to many other companies out there.

My prediction for reviews is that they will be similar to Jason's: "This thing measures terribly!" and "This thing sounds strangely wonderful!"

In oil refineries (and any other oil & gas or petrochemical plants) any equipment or piping with a (normal operating) surface temperature higher than 60 degC is seen as a safety issue. Hence, at all locations where people can come so close that they could touch that equipment, the surface must be covered by insulation to avoid injuries.

As much as I'd love to get a Folkvanger, by the time I add shipping, local tax and FX conversions, it's just getting too much here in Australia. Currency conversion is not so good looking from USD to AUD at the moment. I will experience it vicarioulsy through the thoughts and impressions here

Ok, and after all these additions, compare it with a similar (if that exists) amp from whatever other manufacturer that you can buy at the local hifi shop, and I am pretty sure that the Folkvanger still is a goddamn good deal an excellent value proposition.

One of the other headphone forums has a person who heard the FV (and whose opinion I very much respect). His impression was that it sounds great and is competitive with the best of current circa $2k amps.

Take that with a grain of salt since he couldn’t directly compare it with said $2k amps, but I’m pretty sure it will be a successful product for Schiit and will sell out relatively quickly for a 250 unit run of what most of the world considers an insanely expensive headphone amp.

I may have already asked, and forgotten, but which Mundorf's...? I'm a fan too. Doing a speaker recap this weekend, with Supreme EVO Oils.

There's a guy on another forum that is refurbing some Beolabs (IIRC). He replaced some caps with massive Mundorfs (I think).
He had to make a special riser daughtercard for them as there was no room on the original PCB for such things.
