The 6XX loves tubes. I’ve never had a pair of headphones that benefitted more from running on a tube amp. What are you powering the 6XX with now?

Doing the same thing. (Black FV for my Black Loki Max.) Jumping into the deep-end with first tube amp. Headphones: Arya, KPH40, and (TBD…).

Long-time lurker, I suppose. Got a black Folk. Headphones-wise, I have the Clears (OG) and 800S. Love my Lyr, and tubes, so, logical extension, I needed a heater.

It was a long series of baby steps to where I would willingly plunk down cash on a completely bonkers tube amp without having any idea how it’s going to sound.

Haven’t tried the 600, so couldn’t tell you. I've tried the HD 800 S though, and I can say I think I like the HD 6XX better because it isn't nearly as bright as the HD 800 S is. The amazing soundstage on the 800 S makes me want to try it at some point with the Folkvangr though. Maybe the tubes will tame those highs.

Ok, and after all these additions, compare it with a similar (if that exists) amp from whatever other manufacturer that you can buy at the local hifi shop, and I am pretty sure that the Folkvanger still is a goddamn good deal an excellent value proposition.

Oh for sure, no doubt. Still, they are also too much for me.
Need to keep the budget in check

The 6XX are on sale for $199 right now. A good deal on good headphones that punch above their price point.
