Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

So I finally have a schematic for the crazy idea product. 1043 parts! And that's without the extra 64 relays and 200+ parts that would take to make it really, really bonkers.

(Oh yeah, and this is assuming the assumptions I made are correct, and it actually works as expected once it's all laid out.)

(And oh yeah, a schematic isn't a PCB layout.)

I am completely nuts.

We'll see if this ever comes to anything.

Are you sure you wouldn't rather do software? That's only like 999 parts and no relays etc. ;-)

You don't want me doing software.

We were debugging some new firmware today...fun stuff when you move from one microprocessor platform to another. Guess the reason why.

And, oh yeah, for those of you who are maybe worrying, "Sounds very complicated, like some crazy instrumentation-amplifier-type super-high-loop-gain product," relax. This isn't a parts-for-the-sake-of-parts, full-complementary-with-error-correction type deal. This is actually very simple at the core...but it takes a thousand extra parts to keep the simplicity in order.

Yeah. Crazy. You wonder why nobody does analog anymore?

I have several turntables and am considering one or two more (for my relatives!) so some one must be doing analog. As for complicated from simple? Think of a puzzle of a simple photograph of oh...say the "Mona Lisa". The painting is relatively "simple" but if you photograph it and cut it in to a couple thousand pieces, it ain't so simple no mo'.

In your case, you not only create the puzzle from the pieces in your mind but then you assemble it so that others may enjoy your creation. Thanks.

Analog might be crazy.
It’s usually more work to create and to maintain.
But the result is almost always more beautiful and fascinating than the digital alternative.

But then again, I’m just an analog guy in a digital world, so what do I know… 😬

If it dies a still born death, will you still tell us the story of what might have been?

Absolutely.

There's another product coming this year that will give you an idea where we're going with this. Until that happens, I have to keep quiet. Sorry for the cloak and dagger stuff.

Fully understood. Will wait patiently for whatever comes of it all.
Really enjoy your writing and your willingness to bring us along on your journey.

Have you not read the chapter on Tyr?
Giving up is not part of Jason’s vocabulary. 😜
Yep. Enjoyed it immensely. And appreciate that the idea didn't die along the way.

Now if I ever get enough space for a decent set of speakers I'll have a reason to buy a pair of Tyr. In the meantime, I'm waiting for Folkvanger to ship. I've already stocked up on 6n6p spares....

Keep it coming. The fact that you're excited about this adds to our level of anticipation and excitement!!

Mr. Stoddard is a funny funny man.
