I know. He's a giant. I think he doesn't get as much credit as the flashy bass players. But so many of the "great" jazz albums have his quiet strength as it's foundation. Nothing beats a solid foundation. Carter, Tony Williams and Herbie Hancock found something special which hadn't been equalled since. Call it synergy or groove. I don't know. But it's awesome.Ron Carter is a legend, he is still alive and still performing in his 80's.
Today's listening.
Shout out to @Orange5o. The Sutton album is incredible. This made my day. Fingerpicking glory. Musical, excellent recording quality and it gets down and dirty. I'll report back when I hear more of your suggestions. Very helpful.
John Williams - I mean my heart melts. It's my childhood. He captures the hopes and dreams of a child who grew up on Star Wars, Superman, Close Encounters, Indiana Jones, E.T. What's your favourite JW soundtrack?!? I listened today and my heart is racing and thrilled like a little child. Damn, he is one of the greatest composers ever...

Is chinwag the same as shoot the Schiit? For everyone, I'm down in London for the CanJam 2025 from 18-22. If any of you guys are around, would love to meet up for a pint, talk music and Schiit audio and just have a good old chinwag.

@turtlerod we go down to the Yucatan most winters. One time it was in February and the temperature was so cold that locals were building fires outside to huddle around. all of the staff in the resort were wearing jackets. We were laughing because it was about 70 degrees or so and sunny.
Exactly. You are indeed wise.Is chinwag the same as shoot the Schiit?
@Orange5o The fiddling reminds me of Mark O'Connor.

Since it only consumes 20 watts, just turn it off.Reduce power draw and heat when not in use
It varies depending on work load. I set my own hours and as long as all my work is done I can come and go as I please. We have one guy who does OT during the week and leaves by 10am every Friday.Dang, having only 2-4 hours of 'not-work' time each day is rather horrible work|life balance. I personally couldn't do that. Cool for people who can, I suppose... it just ain't for me.
I work 4 10s, having Sat, Sun, and Mon off - work from 6am to 5pm or so, then I've got until 11:30pm to just do my own thang. I don't need lots of sleep... 5-6 hours is plenty.

Perfectly normal. I am typically a bit later, as I get up at 5:00. It's amazing how much you can do when nobody else is there yet, no phone calls...5:50am is a totally normal time to be at work, right?

I’ve followed up on too many recommendations from this thread to mention but here’s a recent few starting with the IKEA chair (love it). I present a book for those of a certain age, “How To Be Idle”. It was a gift but I’m too lazy to read it.
Someone mentioned Roy Clark, I assume they mean the Flamenco guitarist? Okay, Cuban.
