For me the ultimate driving test was Storrow Drive Boston Mass at rush hour. You survive that your have skills.

I grew up on Lawn Guyland and learned to drive there. In time I discovered it was a great training ground for driving in other parts of the US. Best of all I can still summon my NY driving skills, and driving style, at a moment's notice. :smile_cat:
I learned to drive in New Joysey. And have no problems driving NYC and Boston. Vermont has some cool twisty roads, though nothing like the Tail of the Dragon. That poop's bugnuts insane. And I'll never look at my commute the same again. :slight_frown::slight_frown:

Any idea when Schiit Europe will get any products? It seems everything has been out of stock for weeks, with remark that it is unknown when stock will be available. Pre-order is not an option.
The UK dealer ( Electromod) now has some products in stock
https://www.schiit.co.uk/

Mark Dolbear at Electromod is a pleasure to deal with.
I bought my Yggy from him and he subsequently upgraded it to A2 as well as (the now old) USB Gen 5.

My last Schiit purchases were made direct from the States. These were:
Freya S
Unison USB board for Yggy
Lokius.

I found that Schiit in the States were very efficient, but you do have the extra hassle and costs associated with import taxes, VAT and shipping.

Edit: I was seriously considering buying Schiit's new CD Transport ( 'Urd') when it is finally released, especially as I went to the trouble of installing the Unison USB board on my Yggy.
However, impatience got the better of me and I have made a rash purchase...
I found a mint, Jay's Audio CDT2- Mk 3 CD Transport on eBay in the UK.
Here is a review by Steve Guttenberg:

It cost about the same as the expected price of the Urd and whilst it doesn't have a USB output, it ticks a lot of boxes for me:
- built like a tank
- BNC, AES and RCA outputs ( It also has I2S which I won't be using with Yggy)
- top loader, with no drawer or slot mechanism to go wrong
- robust, proven Philips CDM4 laser mechanism which is user replaceable. I have even bought a spare one, so it should outlast me!

Unfortunately, it will be several weeks before I can try it out, as we are awaiting building work on our house and my 'main' audio system is all in boxes.

In the meantime, I am buying more CDs despite having access to Qobuz.

Yesterday I did a ten hour drive into the teeth of a rainstorm. Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, then Indiana. There was a small mountain south of Pittsburg that reminded me of this song.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH !!!!

In the days when I listened to the radio in the car, hearing any Harry Chapin song would cause an IMMEDIATE switching of the station, and the offending station would be banned for 24 hours.

Same for Jim Croce.

They're the only two performers whose music I react to that way. Don't know why. The feeling has not mellowed in 40 years, not a bit. (Could have gotten worse ... now I react to their names, without even hearing the so-called tunes.)

I bet you did a lot of quiet driving in the 70s. But then again, there's always NPR to help pass the time. 😏

LOL unfortunately it is burned into my memory as I make certain drives. I was not advocating his music.

I am reminded though that music is an art form, be it a protean art. One persons Picasso is another persons squiggly lines. I do not listen to rap or much country music but others like it. :L3000:

As a former German, I have to say that I am appalled by that name.

Appalled, I say!

Honestly, I will forever be puzzled by the Brits' infatuation with that ship. They may have critically damaged the Bismarck, but they never managed to actually sink the ship. It was scuttled.
But hey, if the French can believe that surrendering a few years in would somehow mean that they won the war, then the Brits can believe that they sunk the Bismarck… 🙄

[Very, VERY crucial disclaimer: I am kidding. 🤪]

"Scuttle the Bismarck!" wouldn't make a very inspiring book or movie title.

I was with you on both for many years but lately I have mellowed on Jim Croce (I am not proud of that fact). I still cannot tolerate Harry Chapin. Too many sensitive but non-thinking Boomers love "The Cat's in the Cradle" and took it as reality, this resulted in many of the Boomers' offspring living at home until age 40.
