That doesn't seem surprising, but then I'm not a fan of George Thorogood. But, that's on me.(Opened for 'George Thorogood and The Destroters'. KWS stole the show , IMHO.)

I recommend not trying to redesign Schiit products. Wait for them and then either buy or don't. Simple, really. If you want a Manley buy one.I wasn't asking about Hypex amp modules, I was asking about switching supplies. Sure, they have a similar operating principle, but good switching supplies offer a lot more to various circuits. Manley is using them with nearly all of their new products, including their very best mics and micpres. Given Jason's recent statement about the Tyr's weight, it's probably a linear supply. One reason I'm curious about the Tyr is to see whether any Continuity circuit, switchable (meaning bias currents in Continuity) or not, is included.
Given ORT's quest for gear with VU meters, imagine his dismay when Nagra priced this $2000 above his absolute limit for annual audio spending. Sigh. But where else will you find another turntable with a VU meter?
The thing I wonder about is that I don't think Nagra has ever produced a turntable before. Nobody ever gets a new type of product completely right the very first time.
I'm not either. The tickets were a gift, but KWS made slogging through GT all worth it!!That doesn't seem surprising, but then I'm not a fan of George Thorogood. But, that's on me.
I've been into audio for 45 years and the Nagra is well over my total lifetime expenditure to date in audio gear! I hope to live long enough to have spent $175,000. Considering current prices, tubes can be a sound investment especially if you collect on the level of an @bcowen, well some of his tubes anyway. Oh and I landed a 1957 solid plate Melz 1578 type, so I am nearly done with that series unless I locate a 1955, if one exists.I'm not either. It's funny how the focus is always on price when discussing the high-end. It is not for the vast majority of audio lovers, it is for a very few who find value in that level of product/spending and exclusivity... it's like buying a Bentley. It's not for most people, nor is it intended to be....I've been into audio for 45 years and the Nagra is well over my total lifetime expenditure to date in audio gear! I'm officially jealous.I've seen KWS in concert, so a must-have for me. ORDERED!!

Ever tried these? They have round plates. Not sure if they'll blow up the Incubus until I try it.Considering current prices, tubes can be a sound investment especially if you collect on the level of an @bcowen, well some of his tubes anyway. I have not tried one but they have the look of a 6SL7. Try it in your Dark Voice first just to be safe, not much to lose if you blow it up. It may even improve the sound.Ever tried these? They have round plates. Not sure if they'll blow up the Incubus until I try it.
I own it, how did you like it? My wife is re-reading it and likes it much better than she first thought when we read it with a sci-fi group....climbing back up the Schiit Sine Wave curve a couple of weeks: while we were discussing favorite science fiction novels I bought a copy of Between the City and the City by China Mieville. I'm finished with it now. If any Schiit-head would like my copy please send me a PM and I'll send it to you.
BTW, we need more pictures of Elma, please!
The reason for Tyr's weight is that in addition to the power transformer, it also has an equally large and heavy choke transformer. Jason has talked about it several times and showed it in a SchiitrMeet video (find it on YouTube).Given Jason's recent statement about the Tyr's weight, it's probably a linear supply.
For me Nagra will always be the company that made the supremely awesome mini reel-to-reel tape recorder. But where else will you find another turntable with a VU meter?

I'm in a class all by myself.
