I only like the 40 year old stuff myself.Sample some of Balvenie if you get a chance, the older the better. I am not a fan of heavily peated scotch myself.

I like Laphroaig on occasion. None of my family or friends will drink my Quarter Cask so there's always plenty for me. I like the Laphroaig commercials:
One should not buy cables worth more than their headphones, tubes worth more than their amp, or scotch worth more than their car.I only like the 40 year old stuff myself.
You deserve that for having to put up with GE tubes and incompetent pit masters. Enjoy.I only like the 40 year old stuff myself.
I am a fan of film scores and have at least 4 to 5 dozen film tracks; James Newton Howard, Cliff Martinez, Hans Zimmer, James Horner, Philip Glass, Trtevor Jones, Randy Edelman, Basil Poledouris, John Barry, David Julyan and on and on. I forgot what's his name ...oh yeah, John Williams.LOL my son is still in the game, he started at age four under my tutelage and has built a successful career. I also began teaching him chess then but alas he was no prodigy.
He is in town for Father's day but we mostly talk music and scotch but now it is tending toward bourbons so I get the music and drinks part. Yesterday I was annoying my son with movie music, Harold Faltermeyer. Axel Foley and Fletch themes up until he took over my computer and found his own music.
Happy Father's Day!
I'll bet you can save $5/bottle if you buy a case.I only like the 40 year old stuff myself.
Try a GE 5998A and give it a fair audition.I'm sure the GE will sound just fine after enough scotch and bourbon. You know, a couple bottles (each).
My evaluation of the GE 5998A vs Svetlana 6AS7 is the same as AudioGal's. The bass is full and tight, and the mid/highs are clear withought being overly bright. A good buy.I've had the privilege of listening to one of @Paladin79 's Incubus amplifiers with the Melz 1578 and a GE 5998, and it is an astoundingly glorious sound, top to bottom. I liked the sound of the GE 5998 over the Svetlana 6n13p/6AS7A, full yet tight bottom end.
No Scotch was harmed in this evaluation.
At least you're not making fun of my house this time. Progress, I suppose. One should not buy cables worth more than their headphones, tubes worth more than their amp, or scotch worth more than their car.
When I was in school, most courses were tube centric, with a few courses and lectures on transistors (mostly germanium point contact). That is why this theory is burned into my memory banks.I started with a Valhalla 2 and have owned most of the tube gear Schiit ever sold including Coaster amps. AudioGal certainly has a knowledge of tubes that I struggle to recall. I had tube theory in college but that was back when @bcowen was a pup, many moons ago.
My favorite, non-martini, thirst quencher.I only like the 40 year old stuff myself.
Where are all of the discarded GE tubes and orange trimmed boxes? At least you're not making fun of my house this time. Progress, I suppose.
In the back yard, along with all the empty 40 year Balvenie bottles.Where are all of the discarded GE tubes and orange trimmed boxes?
You are moving up in the world though, the lines on the blue car in your driveway resemble a 1979 Ford Fairmont, your AMC Pacer must be up on blocks in the back.In the back yard, along with all the empty 40 year Balvenie bottles.
lolI ate lamb almost everyday for dinner (and smoked salmon for breakfast), The lamb was spectacular and very silent.
