Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I wonder if we crossed paths in some pub, but it's a ways from where I used to hang out around the Meadows, and Leith. We lived in Marchmont our 5 wonderful Edinburgh years (77-82). Lived many places since, but Edinburgh still pulls the heartstrings.
Got a chance to holiday in southern Scotland and Northern England (Edinburgh, North Berwick, Northumberland, Lake District) a couple years ago...highly recommend visiting there -- great people and beautiful places to see/hike/etc! Would've loved to see Northern Scotland as well but would've needed another week :)

Not sure. Seller only write Bifrost
Still the highest bidder. Is it possible to upgrade this bifrost? And it is worth it?

So to swing this to headphones, and no idea how popular Sennheiser is among the group, but Senneheiser has found a buyer for it's consumer headphones. Seems Sonova is lined up to buy it. but maybe not bad? Sonova is a hearing aid company under Phonak, Unitron, Hansaton, Advanced Bionics, AudioNova (Wikipedia for the list of branding).
Discussions of fiber optic cables is a head phone topic. I've had fiber head phone cables for over a decade and have been satisfied with my system's PRAT since then.

Internet speed discussions are the post-adolescent version of "mine's bigger than yours"

I thought audio forums went by "watts per channel." :smiley_cat:

Good question. Unison usb upgrade is $200 to have Schiit install plus shipping both ways. I don’t see multibit upgrade for Bifrost available on the website, but maybe they will do it if you ask?

I probably have my old 4490 card and maybe a Gen 5 USB card laying around if you want to do self install

Edit: nevermind, I only have Gen 3 USB and AKM 4399 cards. My memory fails again!

Here’s what Reddit thinks of Sennheiser’s bold chess move4197E1BD-2513-4E01-A80D-73FB6FD8B368.jpeg
I've seen Raiders of the Lost Ark dozens of times and don't remember THAT guy...

AFAIK, it can still be upgraded to multibit and Unison USB. But it would be best to contact info@schiit.com to confirm.

I am willing to bet just about every component ever made has been recommended by someone (that someone may be a nobody, but every nobody is a somebody to someone).
Hey! waitaminnit! we were talking about the Stereophile recommended components list. Geez, you filthy mechanical! :)

There's that website that collects reviews and either there's no review or it's 5/5. Not what I was meaning.

Heart of Silly Valley: download: 134.89 Mbps, upload: 13.74 Mbps, and that's because the WFH crowd is finally relaxing.
Remote location with coop fiber network, AT&T backhaul:: download: 52.9 Mbps, upload: 44.1 Mbps. Way more stable than Xfiniti.
Xfiniti sux. I worked with a guy who was rabid Comcast, forced to get fiber. After a few months, he says Comcast sux everyone should have fiber.

For me it is about 40-50$ one way in freight.
Maybe a new modius is a better idea.
Or use it as it is.

Unfortunately there's no fiber on the horizon for my main place, for reasons that are too bizarrely absurd.

One of my Schiit amps that have not been in use for months is the original Jotenheim...I have the newer version here and like it very much...But for grins I turned it on, connected a less used HD650 and played some tunes...

Amazing how good "old" stuff can still sound.

There are a ton of Jot 1's in the deals section of the Schiit website...these would make a 'great" addition to someone coming into the hobby....excellent choice!

This is the standard in The Netherlands for €30/month.

1620295948581.png

IMPORTANT EDIT: This clearly is NOT the standard in The Netherlands but a very good contract based on multiple incentives.
I explain in a later post.
Coming back to my own post.
I do not have fiber. It's old ordinary coax cable that provides me with this.
As for the difference between up and down: It's an option one can choose.
Since I do not game (ever) and have no "Da Vinci" work from home, the upload is never used.
Sometimes uploading a (say) 600MB album for a friend who listens to it, deletes it and then buys it for himself takes less than a minute.
