Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Thanks it sounds good IMHO but I like to give one time for the wires and caps to settle in before making finale judgement.
It should be heading your way after Audiogal just so you can see what you think of the sound. Then on to another gent in California.
They will be very pleased. I speak from experience.

I am in the middle of something but I love the strand count and copper quality of the Mogami. I want to say it is 105 strand 22 awg, the Belden is 24 awg, maybe 40 strands or so and a quality product with low capacitance per foot. The Canare is 21 awg? and while I have used all three, the Mogami would be my preference. All are fine products I would not hesitate to use. I love using Belden because it is an Indiana company but in all honesty most work I have done for audio manufacturers have been with the Mogami.

I am going by memory with some of these numbers so if anyone wants to Google the specs, have at it and I will stand corrected.
Your memory serves you well! Quick question, the 105 strand Mogami (w2791) is a more standard 2 conductor shielded, you prefer this over the star quad cables?

@Stevko

If you dont win your auction, consider taking what you would spend on the auction, and what you would spend on the upgrades, and just put that towards a new Bifrost 2.
Ahhh.. I loose

My bid is 275$ for the lyr and bifrost.a upgrade will cost more than i give for both if I get them for 275😀
@Stevko, sorry you were outbid. :frowning2:

IIRC the Bifrost OG Multibit upgrade required the unit to be sent back, as there were different versions of the motherboard. Early Bifrost motherboards (v1.xx ???) were not compatible with the multibit analog board, so often both the motherboard as well as the Analog board were replaced, plus new firmware. I suspect the upgrades for Bifrost Multibit are no longer available, or they would still be listed on the website (with existing spare PCBs reserved for warranty and post-warranty support thru 2024 and beyond).

Star quad has its purposes, if I am building RCA interconnects I would use two conductor shielded myself. I figured whoever asked the original question might be splitting them for left and right channels but I am more apt to use two cables.

Canare claims their L-4E6S quad is superior with regard to electromagnetic interference because they include the solid separator tubes (1 dead center, 4 on the periphery) to maintain the spacing between the four conductors. Do Mogami 2534 and the Belden 1192A have these separators as well?
I believe they use another form of separation, I doubt if you could hear much difference between them to be honest. Belden probably does less marketing but as I said earlier all three are very good products. I know one young woman who might hear a slight difference but she is one in hundreds of thousands IMHO.

A sample I am wrapping up today for @AudioGal, those of you who know 6SN7 equivalents may know what a Melz 1578 is, for last minute testing I am using a couple from the early 60’s in conjunction with a GE 5998a and a Tung Sol 5998. Hopefully it will ship early next week but with other tubes.😎

Gungnir as a source right now.
Turned out beautifully, that did!

If you stand back far enough and kind of squint your eyes it is ok lol. It has some flaws in the top portion but I will know better next time. The colors do work well though. :)

When you build it, you always (and forever) see those tiny flaws… No worries, shows twas built by hand,

using a single star quad cable split for left and right channels would be a bad idea, unless one want's lots of crosstalk

I know of it being used in headphone cables all the time with no such cross talk. We are talking two twisted pairs in some cases but you are entitled to your beliefs. What do I know? I do this for a living.

yes, for headphones: low source impedance (not always the case with passive or line-level tube preamps) and balanced / differential loads. assuming a fairly uniform conductor geometry, the capacitive and inductive coupled noise should cancel out.

That's a serious work of art. I love the contrast of the woods. Looking forward to hearing it, too!
