Another option, if it's just a really crappy USB header or some such, is to purchase a cheap-o USB3 PCI-E card like one of these if you're comfortable around computers. This is, of course, assuming this isn't a NUC or something similar where the form factor/chassis is so small that something like that isn't feasible. Such cards usually "sound better" to people, if for no other reason that USB on some motherboards can be iffy depending on the port/implementation/age of the mobo -- even the cheapest USB3 cards at this point are going to be pretty foolproof "noise"-wise.

Even then, Schiit's no stranger to these sorts of issues with USB (hence the Wyrd etc.), so you'd have to have a pretty crappy USB port/noisy computer PSU/similar to cause an issue with Unison, one would think. Definitely worth playing around with, regardless of the reason, for Unison's potential benefit vs. Optical.

Jitter is everywhere in the digital chain from creation to playback.

I have my iMac connected with the sony/philips digital interface via glass to my BMC-2 and sounds excellent, never thought this optical set-up equals jitter. It did pass my thoughts though that I never have hums or electrical noises. Would love to try Unison with my iMac though.

Anyways TC Electronics thought about jitter solutions, from the BMC-2 manual:

“BMC-2 Clock & Jitter Rejection
A digital audio signal relies on only two components: level and time. We all know about levels (bits) – but timing is equally important to avoid noise and distortion.
Jitter is unwanted variation of a digital audio signal’s timing. It is typically recognized by compromised dynamic range of AD, DA and sample rate converters; or by clicks and dropouts due to interface breakdown.
A steady digital clock is crucial to the sound quality, especially when one of the above conversions is performed.

We use a lot of different stickers on our bags to provide visual aids to the people who are responsible for packing your order. In the image below we have a Jotunheim that has three stickers. The large red/orange mailing label sticker at the top is used to show that a product is b-stock. The small red dot on the back at the bottom shows that a Multibit module has been installed. A purple dot would indicate a 4490 card. No dot would indicate no module or the phono module has been installed. We'd then look at the module and see if anything was in place to make sure we had the right unit during pick and pack. The orange dot with 230V at the bottom indicates the unit is configured for 220V - 240V countries. We have 8 different variations for A-stock Jotunheim on our shelf, so the stickers are very important to keep track of these differences.

55? Hmmm....perhaps 20 amps at 440v would be a good starting point. Don't want to be leaving any nubs or anything. At my age I just hook it into the main house breaker.

Problem is they have to be perfectly matched, or the volume knob moves when you're trying to switch inputs. Guess I'll wait for the Unison Tube version.
