Why do people combine different brand main speakers and subs? Most likely because it doesn't matter.
For the ones who do it the gains outweight the possible negative and the people who tried but skipped the idea the contrary. And some do not even bother to try, like me my room is small and my ATCs give me more than enough. Fat of the Land from The Prodigy sounds wonderful, controlled with a sweet dense SQ and i can play super loud which is nice with that kind of music:levitate::loud_sound::musical_note: smell is a bit like when opening a can of basketballs

I'm a tube virgin. My basic takeaway is that tubes are like bacon. They make everything better, and why have a slice of bacon with your eggs, when you can have bacon in your eggs, 3 slices on the side, and a piece of bacon stuck vertically in your caesar.

Caesar recipe below for those who don't know. It's common in ND/MN and Canada. Generally a hair of the dog/breakfast drink, for those times where you drank till 2 am, and have a drinking event the following morning that starts round 9 am.

Not different brand as such, but designed independently with different goals and price points.

My listening preference is to have something as flat as possible. I've seen complementary designed subwoofer speaker sets. I've also seen the others.

And again, it doesn't matter. If the room goals are met, who cares what it is or how much it might cost?

Again, it's all about achieving the in-room goals. As long as the desired result is attained the brands and types chosen are moot. Once you are hearing what you intended to hear it does not matter how you get there.

Just curious on folks using Android, what app do you use to store and listen to your hi-res files (flacs etc)?

Roon on android devices and PC endpoints. Storage is handled by a RAID10 server running Roon Core.

Yumm :yum:

A big part of the LS50/Sunfire XTEQ 8 combo is WAF. These are both small shiny boxes, and sound good!
I was not getting huge speakers in the room to start.

Once the system has been up for awhile bigger speakers can make a "temporary" appearance.
