@yonson
Thanks for introducing me to Dream Theater and Savatage. Not everyday listening for me, but good stuff nonetheless. Listened to Dream Theater longer on Spotify and they have some neat stuff.

You are most welcome. If you do start enjoying them more, they are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to progressive rock. Not to mention there are tons of side projects the guys have been involved with over the years, most of which are well worth a listen...

I have come further along in my quest for the frankenfulla 2. I have selected parts and an enclosure to contain the parts and myriad cables.

Going to use this battery:

with this power board

You could try something like this:

I think the one I got was the 20000 mah for around $20. That's more capacity and a cheaper price than the adafuit products you mentioned. But it might be a bit large for what you're trying to do. They do have smaller ones, but I'm not familiar with them and can't say how small.

Yeah I've got a similar 10000mah Anker power bank I was using before I started trying to shrink it all down. Just adds too much size. I could disassemble my Anker but I think it would still be too large.

I see. The Adafruit approach makes much more sense then, you can make it exactly the size you want.

(I call Adafruit the DIY EE crack store, lots of great parts, and great tech suppport).

I think I'll be able to pull 4 hours of use between charges. Which is enough for my purposes. If I'm in a car I can always charge and play at the same time with the adafruit kit.

I will need to add a power switch. Neither the adafruit or the fulla 2 have one.

Two micro-USB ports next to each other.
You know that a lot of people will get cables reversed.

They are smart enough that this won't hurt it, will not function but they'd never set up customers for failure that way.

You could run it for a week on this :money_mouth: https://www.anker.com/deals/powerhouse2

I've been thinking of one of these for my car player:

It's the full size USB,, though, not the micro, so once again, it might be too big for your project.

EDIT: I see the adafruit charge board you picked has an enable pin, so you can use a much smaller discrete switch instead.

Yeah I've got 3 or 4 of those for RPi projects. I'll probably just use one of the extra switches I have from the coaster BOM (which called for 2 switches, but you only need 1).
