I have one, it's called a Freya. Yggy > Freya > Rag > Bliss!
Ah, then you're the one to ask.
1: The differences in sound in all 3 modes
2. Does the JFET or Passive mode bring it back to the original sound.
etc. etc.
Please can you write a bit about your experience.
I too have the Yggdrassil.
Thanks.

I have only used the Freya in tube mode! I have a quad of new production Tung Sols, and I am very pleased with what I hear. Using a Freya with a Rag is a bit odd since the Rag has a preamp section as well.

I am moving house over the next couple of months, and will buy a pair of Vidar's once I am in my new place. This is the long term plan, full power into my B & W's.

Audiophile?????
Stereo cassettes in the car - replaced with CD's as the tapes did not like heat or cold.
my first paycheck (real job after college) went to

Swing shift , swinging on the 6th day required something to block out neighbor's lawn mowers.
I think it had 50 watts of power!!!!!

That's the one - STA-7, thanks for the reminder. I'd still buy one if I could find a working example!

Good for you.
Indeed 2 pre's is a bit much.
I found a buffer at http://www.purityaudiodesign.com/harmonyseries2.htm
Only 6k but I do not like the colour.

Decware has what appear to be some quality tube buffers:

http://www.decware.com/newsite/zbox.htm
http://www.decware.com/newsite/zstage.html

Also, MapleTree:
https://hollowstate.netfirms.com/#Preamplifiers
(At the bottom of the page)

Prices all seem fair.

No experience with either. Just read-up on other products both outfits offer...

Dont have experience with it but the brand seems to be well regarded.

Audio flashback: 1st system: Dedicated, Nakamichi/Canton home/auto "portable" system, (portable Nakamichi cassette deck, (complete with mic. inputs and analog signal level meter monitoring), Canton 2-way mini-monitor system...
2nd system: 30 to 50(?) watt/channel Technics stereo receiver with sound sound-field expansion circuitry for television sound signal input/output, feeding a DAK sourced Cerwin Vega or BIC "thunderous" :) subwoofer...
feeding a pair of Infinity Infinitesimal's, (DAK seduced me into the subwoofer purchase after I had already fallen in love with the quick precision of the Infinitesimals)...

Meanwhile, back at/to the 21st century, I am still looking for additional information/reviews regarding the Vidar amps, as well as the Eiter signal processing component, is/are there any dedicated threads regarding these devices of which I am unaware...?...

Just google "Schiit Vidar" and you will see threads on Computer Audiophile and Super Best Audio Friends. For the Eitr there is a thread on this site along with the aforementioned sites. Also the Basshead.Club ranked the Eitr up with the best of the USB to SPDIF converters: http://www.basshead.club/spdif-battle-mutec-singxer-lynx-rednet-et-al/
