Ana Vidović is another great Croatian classical guitarist (I would actually place her above Miloš).

Here she plays an unusual solo performance of the Rodrigo Concierto de Aranjuez without orchestra, and pulls it off.

she is extraordinary.

So now that the Valhalla 3 is not coming out I think I will need to consider alternatives. I'd like to upgrade my Lyr 3 with something else with tubes. I rarely use headphones anymore so I was thinking a Freya+ should be in my future. Anyone used both the Lyr and Freya+ or n and can tell me how much better the Freya is? Will I gain a fair bit of clarity and detail or not really? Is the Freya any more or less tubey than the Lyr? Thanks for any info you can provide.

I liked the Lyr 3 a lot. I even used it as a pre for 2ch listening. But imo the Freya N smokes it. Feels like a slight layer of haze has been removed. I also really like running as much in balanced as possible.

I can’t offer a comparison since I have never listened to a Lyr, but I will say that the Freya+ with tubes running is a distinctly different sound from the solid state stage. What I notice most is that pianos sound richer in a way that is really satisfying. I like what the tubes do to Art Blakey’s drums - I’m not sure how to describe it… it’s just a more satisfying smack.

Compared to the Vali 2++ (fed by a Modi Multibit) the Freya+ (fed by a Yggdrasil OG) the Freya+ has more detail and the richness of tone sounds more natural. Comparing the Valhalla 2 (fed by a Bifrost 2/64) to the Freya+, I’d say the Valhalla 2 sounds less “tubey” - more of a clean, clear sound with just a hint of tubes.

I think the Freya+ was one of the most significant hi-fi purchases I made in that it provides a really enjoyable richness to what I’m listening to. The other gear, the DACs, amps, etc all help in the reproduction, but the Freya+ gives the music a great deal more richness without being syrupy or obviously “tubey”.

I have consistently heard great things about Freya+.

Yep, good books. Have one of the workbenches sitting in the back, and yes it is stout and not fun to flip solo. You CAN do it, but not fun.
You speak the truth! Just finished up my AWB earlier this year.

The problem might be the tube. Do you have another tube you can swap out?
Unfortunately no. Sending it back today, so if they determine it's the tube I assume I'll be getting a new one.. It only worked for three weeks...

Josipa, she sings mostly pop, but this one is unique, though I do not understand the lyrics, the melody and swing are very nice.

Ah, don't know how I forgot about her... thanks for pointing her out! She is also one of the best there are now. But somehow, her playing sounds a bit more sterile to me and Miloš makes more music from the notes. But both they're both a class-leading virtuoso in their own right.

Nevermind, my friend, when you remember something, please kindly tell us, I am a fan of Croatia music, even the former Yugoslavia ones, or Balkans.

By the way, Nenad Vasilic also wonderful.
