Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Welcome! There's still plenty of rooms left in this rabbit hole. Some rooms even have bourbon. And some have bourbon, cats, and suggestive names.
Speaking of bourbons my wife is starting to understand the brands I like, not so much with scotch.🤪

I'll leave the tubes and the vinyl to you fellers; I'll gladly stick to my ridiculously overpowered Class A Ukrainian Solid State amps.
In my shop I run a Bob Carver solid state amp capable of 450 watts per channel yet it has the tube sound, there are exceptions.🤪 For serious listening it has to be tubes for me, YMMV. We each search out that which we love. We can agree on class A.😁

If it's solid state it should be class A!

450w is actually terrifying lolol

Vali 3 shipped. A new friend for a lonely tube. Yes, this is my third Vali.

I regret selling my 396As with the amps I had got them for (Eddie Current Aficionados). Not that I have any use for a 396A at the moment, but it's such an iconic tube, and one never knows...

I am careful with it.😁 Class A with tubes is expensive, inefficient, hot, etc. but it reminds me of this poem about tobacco.

Tobacco is a dirty weed.
I like it.
It satisfies no normal need.
I like it.
It makes you thin
It makes you lean
It takes the hair right off your bean!
I like it.🤪

I do not smoke nor do I advocate it but class A, when done well is amazing.

Ugh…

My Roon library is "only" 614 albums strong, yet I am experiencing a strong urge to throw out 90% of it because I barely listen to most of that anyway. The signal to noise ratio of my "My Library - Albums" screen is completely off the charts right now.

The benefit of streaming libraries: You can just add to it whatever you like, even if you'll ever only listen to it three of four times.
The drawback of streaming libraries: You can just add to it whatever you like, even if you'll ever only listen to it three or four times.

But hey, at the very least this allows me to just clear out old/unused albums without feeling like I'm being super wasteful.
2258 albums on my local server + 373 from Qobuz. 400 played in the last year. 82 in the last 3 months. 2387 played since I've had Roon (the non-played ones are mainly duplicates with different sources/resolutions). The main reason I buy much more than I stream is to support the independent artists who provide the great majority of my listening.

I've owned a few Schiit products over the years. Notably, a Vidar that I've had for a few years now. Recently I took a shot at a used Lyr+ for a first tube amp. It's a been over a week now with it and I have to say it's my favorite Schiit product. I also have a Saga+ and a Bifrost 2/64(which is doing VERY well against a Chord Qutest). My only issue is the stepped attenuator which is disruptive to the music.
Get a Lyr 3 then. Same great sound, although a tube is required, but no remote so no stepped attenuator.

This photo comes dangerously close to making me reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to buy a Lyr with that tube (what ever it is!). It is that "Metropolis" looking. High praise indeed in my itsy bitsy world. Thank you so very much!

With all the funny town signs and people names mentioned recently, I am wondering if this will be logged on the Schiit sign wave. Also, what will you call it?

It's on the list to add next time I update it .... "Weird and Offensive(?) Place Names"

Edit : Ninja'd by @sixergixer with a better(?) suggestion. However, now I think about it, "Gobbledygook" perhaps could replace most of the Sine Wave

MJ3 as a preamp...

...is a worthy experiment, IMHO. The sound is incredibly tube-like, but massively detailed at the same time.

No remote. Who cares, bc when fed by OG Yggy and driving an OG Aegir, it sounds absolutely fantastic. YMMV.
