There was an infamous entry in my hometown's phone book labeled 'Whacker, Peter'.

By all accounts Peter was the nicest guy, but oh the decades of prank calls that man had to endure. 😬

I would have had my number unlisted were I he.

Kind of proud to say that, whilst I was in the same room as one of those calls, it was in fact not me doing the calling.

The Walking Dead must love Ort...

That Monoprice Pure Tube Amp is a killer piece of kit for someone looking to try 2 or 2.1 channel tube amplification on the cheap.

I picked one up for schitts and giggles during the 2021-21 stay at home period (the QC sucks, it took me 2 returns-which Monoprice was super about-to get one that worked right), and listened to it with stock tubes , and with also rolled-in NOS GE (preamp stage) & Tung Sol tubes (output). Surprised the hell out of me. Very much overdelivers related to its price point.

I’ve since given it away to a friend, but listened to it last week at their place and it has no right to sound as good as it does for the price, much like Schiit’s stuff (and the faceplate looks great with Schiit silver gear).

Kind of wish I’d kept it

EDIT: realiszed this might be seen as a competitor product and out of line. Understand if it’s deleted, and happy to do it myself if that’s the consensus.

Pro tip: If you use the 'ignore' function to exclude posts from everyone other than yourself, it makes catching up much easier.
Until some jerk posts a long video explaining why streaming 'services' are only in service, as ever, to the music biz money trench, not to musicians, nor listeners.

As both an independent composer/musician and listener, I refuse to participate in the streaming scam biz. Why the heck would an artist need a 'Digital distributor'? Pay to play never went away? Watch to find out.

Enjoy the show! Benn makes the absurdity of music streaming industry 'logic' hilariously entertaining. :joy: And terrifying. :astonished:

Edit: This is why I say Urd is the best streaming service available. Physical media is better - bumper stickers will be issued.

Alright, kids, keep it clean!

I've always wondered about designing a DAC that has one set of chips for the summed mono signal, and one for the difference between L+R, with the decoding of the stereo image happening in the analog domain. Kind of like how SYN works.
FTFY ... (I think?) :)

There was a Richard Head in the phone book for the city where I lived during and after university.

I know a Richard Head as well. He went by Rick. For some reason he did NOT like being called Dick 🤷‍♂️

A tiny Austrian hamlet just north of Salzburg.
(Pronounced "Foo-King" — which would be an even cooler town name, not gonna lie.)

Well, at least until a few years ago when they changed their name to Fugging because they grew a little tired of the attention that their 1000+ years old name afforded them, not to mention the fact that people kept stealing their town limit signs.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of those signs ended up in the 'Murican bible belt, though. Especially the ones you'd see when you leave town:

But fear not, the two Austrian hamlets of…

("upper effing")

…and…

("under/lower effing" – ignore the "Güterweg," that just means agricultural road)

…are still around.
