Those are only for bat crazy coffee-philes. There are plenty of normally produced coffees in the world that taste amazingly complex when drank as black
Ditto! I use Trade Coffee to get a twice/thrice-a-month fix of coffees not obtainable locally. It's only like 3 LPs worth...

I'm on the edge of a dilemma. Part of me wants to buy the Yggy GS2, but I've also been casting my eye over some Sonus Faber Lumia III that I can get for just a little more. I'm sure the speakers will make more of a difference than a DAC, but I also know the GS2 is a limited deal.

I was also surprised to find that my Aegir runs substantially cooler than my Vidar. But I was not surprised that it sounds better.

Two things I just can't bring myself to do, listen to bad audio equipment, and drink old, bad coffee. My beans are roasted 2 days before they arrive at the house. I let them sit another 5 days or so then grind precisely 20 grams every time to make 40 grams of espresso at a temp of 94c in about 25 seconds. I mix that with about 5 ounces of steamed milk for a silky smooth and incredibly tasty flat white. I am allowed two of those each morning unless it is the weekend and is raining, then I might be allowed one more. I think my coffee snobbery may be more serious than my audio snobbery. It does however, taste better.

I use one of these.

Nice machine! Having to dial in an espresso and the time it takes to prepare and clean is a huge turn-off for me. Drip machines are so simple to get perfect tasting cups compared to this that's why I use Nespresso pods myself which is so user friendly and can make schlong latte art with their Aeroccino frother 🤣🤣🤣

Speaking of coffee setup, I've been perfectly happy with my single serve pour over setup since I started grinding my own beans just starting last year lol:

Schiit earlier than expected. Surprising and delightful!

Card and firmware swap was straightforward. There's a dip-switch on the bottom of each card that says "OFF: LEFT, ON: RIGHT". I assume this is referring to the orientation of which card goes where, because other than that they look identical. Powered on... 30 seconds of blinking. Not showing up in Windows... Unplugged/plugged back in USB. Voila! GS2 reborn as MIB!

First impressions (several hours in):
Smooth. Detailed. Fluid. Less incisive feeling than the A1, without losing detail. If anything I'm picking up more detail when I pay attention. Maybe it's delivered a little more gracefully. If the A1 is a razor blade, the MIB is a katana? More body in tonality, but definitely not too phat. I'm surprised with how much "sparkle" (sorry - lacking better words right now) there is when called for in a recording. I loved that about the A1 and don't feel like that's missing, despite the relative shift in overall tonality. After spending so long warming up the A1, I'm surprised how good it sounds right away. I'll try to give it at least a few weeks before forming any definitive conclusions, but so far so good.

I'll definitely be interested in your further thoughts, whether here or on headphones dot com forum...

Our setups are super similar, very nice! DSHA-3FN with Yggy OG (A2/Unison in old case for me), and various ZMF for me (and others). :beerchug:
Are those VC or AC? They're beautiful.

Single ended use only to Schiit Saga :) Powercord is a Pangea AC-14 SE which is a nicer cable without spending big bucks! I got them for $60 way back in 2016
Nice! Every once in a while I have a hankering to color-code my power cables so I stop unplugging the wrong dang thing. "audiophile" cords are both ridiculously thick and expensive....

.... 🤔🫰🙂: Go with Yggy GS2 - 'upstream' in the sound chain; Yggy can be used in either of your systems. As for speakers, the current Dynaudios are quite the items! [Full disclosure: I am a 'sources first' type.]

If you know what you are doing brewing a proper espresso as described above is just a routine one learns. Need quality grinder to prepare the standard 18/20g portafilter pack yielding 36/40g of espresso in 27s.

Yikes! Source first philosophy? But SF are sweet.

Actually, @Paladin79 is the local SF aficionado..., opinion?

Ditto! I wish I were back in Puerto Rico, or maybe Italy, where everyone you visit gives you a cup of coffee that is either espresso-rich or espresso-adjacent!

I have a soft spot for the Pope's Coffee, btw, because of where it originates.

I like Italian coffee.

I gave you a like, but Pulp Fiction is one of the greatest films ever. Period.
I am in agreement here. Though, Death Proof is my fave for all time. Best dialogue.
