Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

True! Around 1500
There are quite a few choices in that price range. Klipsch reference, Monitor Audio, Wharfedale, Paradigm, JBL L52, several other strong contenders. I recommend you go listen to some if you can and see if any sound sweet to your ears with the music you like. Leave the Eagles at home, however (unless you mean Eagles of Death Metal.) And don't listen to the hawkers, err I mean audio salespeople if you feel they are trying to "sell" you something you don't want. :)

Hawkers are always happy to sell you something you want. Don't let them sell you something you don't need.

Look into Sonus Faber Lumina IIs.

Scratch Klipsch. Very good monitors, some of them, but too efficient for powerful Tyrs on a near field desktop.

@Jason Stoddard: Shout-out to Tom E. I emailed Schiit support this morning with a concern regarding my Vali 2++ and Tom replied 29 minutes later and fully addressed my questions. That, my friends, is exceptional service. I've gotten used to 2-5 day replies from other vendors across my too-many hobbies.

It's been almost 30 happy days and every day I listen to it I am glad I got it.
Same here! Just put up some impressions in the main Yiggy thread. My wallet was hoping I wouldn’t hear a difference from the B2/64 but my smile says otherwise :)

The Tyrs may be what these power-sucking Eminent Techs really need. Not exactly desktop friendly though.

The top part reminds me of Mini Maggies. Tyrs would probably drive those healthily.

P.S. Either ninja'd by @Iowan or it's the great minds thing

Magnepan makes a desktop system - https://magnepan.com/products/mini-maggie-system - sold out right now.

I'd like to hear one in a good setup -room. Heard one in a cinder block office a while back that wasn't doing much for me.
I have a set (make me an offer! :). Placement is everything for Maggies, then sufficient power.

The woofer panel didn't do much for me as I could "hear" where it was (really messes with cello, e.g.).

All the Maggie virtues were present as well as the Maggie vices, amped up somewhat.

I have a Monsoon MM-2000 hooked up to my desktop Schiit. It's kinda like a desktop Magnepan, what with flat planar panels and all. I like it.

I have a really old set of those, maybe M1000 from the late 90s? The panels are surprisingly durable. The sub, not so much.

Not really the most cohesive sounding speakers I've had, a little bright.

Fun fact: They're made by the same people who make some high end planars. Sanders?

tempting.. my adcom amp would probably drive them. If I get some $ set aside for an audio purchase , I'll see if your still interested.
Or I maybe I should stay focused on a new DAC... sigh.

I gave him visiting privileges to the Barbie Cardboard Fort, so he's moving closer to take advantage of my generous offer. 😏
And the first thing I'll do is paint it not pink.

I used to have a Freya OG and I recall that being hotter in tube mode than the MJ3 is. I don’t have it now to do a side by side since I replaced it with a Freya S
Same here, my B-I-L now covets my OG Freya w/LISST... but (unstable historical memory notwithstanding)... I think that Freya with LISST was about the same as MJ3 in terms of radiated heat. I don't really notice that MJ3 is hot until my hands are physically near it; and the vent grilles are clearly too hot to touch directly after an hour of runtime.

Freya with tubes was much hotter for sure, and radiated more heat over a larger area...
