How dare you toy with my emotions, FedEx!? You tell me my Yggy GS2 is in Dallas and set for Delivery on 12/11, then at 6PM on the day I stayed home to sign for the shipment you set the status to DELAYED/PENDING!! Damn you, FedEx!! Damn you to HADES!! šŸ˜”

This is my 2nd biggest issue with Roon, as I was a multi Sonos device house for causal listening.

Needing this group to validate #1: syncing playback across endpoints must be on same transport, as in all via Chromecast for example? I only have a few days left on my eval, so not a guru user but it seemed that is a limit of when trying to group playback.

I know roon is a high end system, that I am willing to adapt for the big rig and my office and bedroom, but I am playing it cheap on wanting a whole house solution for the wife's parties. šŸ˜œ
100% correct.

Seen here is a list of my Roon-ready devices:

If I try to enable and group an AirPlay zone I get this message:

I hope that helps! (It should be noted that the Bluesound Nodes can be "Roon Ready" and/or "AirPlay" devices)

That has happened to me so often I've given up. Then today while I was away, they delivered a package that they said would come tomorrow. FedEx was once excellent in these parts. No more.

It's good you pulled yourself together. Because once that Yggy gets hooked up in your system you're really going to come apart at the seams. With joy! :smile_cat:

Can you say FedUp with FedEx?

I have never had a good experience with them

They've never delivered as initially promised for me. I don't know why I thought this delivery would be different. šŸ™„

You might think that.

I have a similar cable from Pine Audio that is rainbow colored. When my eldest saw it, they said, "I have no idea what that wire is for."

You look like you're coming down with something. Think it's called Yggydeliveryimmediatus. Might have to call in sick each day until Yggy is delivered. Just to be safe šŸ¤”

A standalone streamer is built with a single purpose: To stream music with as much fidelity as can be mustered given the design and price constraints.

A computer is designed to do literally a million different tasks and *maybe* one of those tasks is to output passably decent audio. Maybe.
Can you point to anything a streamer can do better than a computer?

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but my current computer streaming is excellent. I have a good motherboard, that allows clean usb audio outs. I have 3 32" monitors, versus a small streamer screen. If my main rack computer isn't counted, I have a 15" and 17" laptops that are very capable. Then the 4 12" tablets.

I'm in the "if not broke don't fix it camp".

I am not a Boomer (Gen X), but agree 100% with you. This is why I went back to vinyl. ....
...
The other bonus is I believe most artists get paid more when you buy a vinyl (or CD for those of you doing so) so you are actually supporting the music a little more.
Same for me but CD or digital downloads. I think it's a crime that artists get $0.00000375/per play* on streaming services.

40 million streams in 10 weeks, yielding $150,000 in payments,

Size is the biggest factor for me. Streamers are a lot easier for the spousal acceptance factor, due to being a lot smaller than a desktop or laptop. My raspberry pi is tiny and easily hidden

I agree!

Maybe this is more a subject for my therapist than this forum, but I am less interested in listening to music that is streamed from the internet than from the lossless files Iā€™ve ripped from CDs I own. If I like the tracks, I donā€™t want the streaming service to stop providing it because their license expired or theyā€™ve replaced it with a ā€œbetterā€ remastered version.
I pay ~85$, to increase to 95$ in March of '24 for Amazon Music Unlimited. Virtually anything ever recorded, in the best version available. Streamed to anything I own. And I can download it to my drives.

I grew up with albums. If I never listen to a pop or crack again, I'll be a happy man.

I have few positives for living in the current age. Cheap music streaming is one big plus.

Search for the album again. I have this issue with Qobuz. The album is still there but the saved version is not.
+1 This happens to me frequently on Tidal.
